Show Page 8 Messenger-Enterpris- Thursday, June 24, 1999 e Joseph Patrick Gabriel Vonda Geneta Peterson Merriam Vonda Geneta Peterson Merriam, loving wife, mother and grandmother, returned to her .Heavenly Father, and her eternal companion, on June 15, 1999 at the age of 88, following complications of a stroke. She was born January 10, 191 1, to John J. and Nelzina Marie Peterson, in Manti, Utah. Married Edgar Merriam June 10, 1930. Sealed April 15, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple. Vonda lived and raised her 10 children in Manti, Utah. She was a loving mother and grandmother, teaching her children love and responsibility and the joy of hard work. Vonda was extremely talented with her hands. She taught mot only her children these talents, ' but her grandchildren as well. She e and made created ; gifts ifor her whole family for Christmas, sometimes giving up to 10 quilts per Christmas. She was known as Grandma Merriam throughout the neighborhood, always having homemade cookies for the neighborhood children. Vonda and her husband always cured their own meat, teaching her son and grandson the fam-il- y recipe. No one ever left Vondas house hungry. Vonda was a talented writer and author of many stories published in the Saga of the Sanpitch. Vonda had a great capacity for love. Her greatest love was her family who deeply loved her in return. She never had a lot of material things, but was completely content and happy with her life. hand-mad- ; ; Ward. He was a high priest. Joseph served in a tank battalion in the infantry in World War II in the African campaign. Vonda Merriam She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by nine living children: Mary Ursenbach, Mt. Pleasant; Drew (Joy) Merriam, Manti; Connie (Toy) Hansen, Taylorsville; Anna May Thomas, Manti; Wayne (Debra) Merriam, Sante, Calif.; Vonda Rae Poulsen, West Valley City; Diana (Dennis) Clark, Riverton; Burdell (Marsha) Merriam, Cedar City'; and Jo L nn (Richard) Lund, Tucson, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren; and two 3 1 Vonda also had three very special adopted daughters, Jean, Sandy and Suzann. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Louise Rump; two grandchildren; three sister and brothers. Funeral services were held Friday, June 8, 999 in the Manti Tabernacle.
