PLEDGE OF Allegiance was led by Ed Hyde. It was announced that Kaysville Spring Cleanup has been set for April. City trucks will cover the area west of Main Street beginning April 18 through April 22 and east of Main Street from April 25 through April 29. THE TRUCKS will cover the streets only once, therefore residents are reminded to have their cleanup out early on the specified dates. They will only pick up regular yard cleanup. They will not take old car parts, tree stumps, orchard trimmings, old appliances and the like. President Lawrence E. Welling and President Eldean Holliday from the two Kays- ville LDS Stakes, Mayor Glen W. Cundall of Kaysville and Mayor Lon Christensen, Fruit Heights, met recently to discuss the appointing of a Com- munity Cultural Committee for the area to plan and prepare entertainment during the year in addition to the annual July 4 celebration. THE Kaysville Bicentennial activities were successful, that they felt this type of en- tertainment should be continued to remind everyone of their great heritage. A committee was appointed to be known as Kaysville and Fruit Heights Cultural and Performing Arts Council. MEMBERS Joseph Turner, Russell Fisher, Delores construction n MR. Cecil Hough, Rotary Club representative announced their guest speaker for their March 23 meeting was Miss Judi Sanders, who was a Rotary exchange student to Australia. She gave a slide presentation of her stay Australia and told of her in experiences in that country. NEW OFFICERS of the Rotary Club have been asked to attend the Rotary District Assembly in Provo on Saturday, March 26. The new officers elected will take office July 1. It was reported that Lantern Club had their March meeting and program and the American Field Service students from both Davis High School and Layton High School talked on their native countries and customs. THE Kaysville Chamber of Commerce representative, Mrs. Bonnie Heywood, anthat Kaysville nounced Sidewalk Days will be held July 28, 29 and 30. The Chamber of Commerce are planning turkey drawings for the community on November 19 and December 17. Mary Phelps, Daughters of Utah Pioneers representative announced the DUP Convention and dinner to be held Sa- turday in Salt Lake City at Hotel Utah, with activities beginning at 9 a m. and is open to the public. She said the local chapters need more members. ED HYDE. K.C.A. Youth chairman reported that the Little League soccer teams are conducting a candy drive and they need the com- munitys support. He also suggested that those who have not as yet seen the film, Price of Peace and Freedom This for both youth and adults. MAYOR CUNDALL was asked by President Chatland to explain the water study and situation. The Mayor stressed the water shortage and if it becomes necessary the city will adopt a three-phas- e plan. First phase is to cut down and conserve, second phase will be rationing and third phase no more buildings. THE MAYOR said they concerned over reserving much water as possible next years use in case cut down now. This is vitally important. The Mayor was also asked, pertaining to the Davis County Farmington Library situation, on charging Kaysville residents a fee for library use. He stated the Farmington Library had refused to eliminate their fee for Kaysville residents to use the library. April 1 and 2 is State Gym- nastic Meet; April 7 and 8, Easter; April 13, Symphonic Orchestra goes to Portland, Oregon; April 16, annual Junior Prom; April 18 to 22, campaign for new student-bod- y officers; April 29 and 30, State Drama Meet. She said the Pavis High Madrigals have just returned from a trip to California. ED HYDE reported that Davis High took fourth place in the State Basketball Tournament, and the 9th grade basketball went team undefeated during the season. Mrs. Major reported for the American Legion Post 82 of Kaysville. She said they hold a monthly dinner on the first Saturday of each month. This dinner will be held Saturday evening, April 2 with a steak dinner being served at the American Legion Hall and is open to the public. IT IS sponsored to raise funds for the Post. Also they are continuing their newspaper and aluminum can drive to assist in their fundraising drive. Bonnie Heywood reported for the American Legion auxiliary. They sponsor Girls State.
