Show Snow seeks photos Church by Holly Lynne Simmons EPHRAIM With the restoration of the Noyes Building well underway, Snow College is compiling a book about the history of the building entitled "The Spirit of The Noyes". Dean O Driscoll is petitioning area residents, or anyone, who may have, black and white or color, pictures of the building to include in the book to call 2 as soon as possible. Snow College will provide funds to 283-706- make copies and negatives of the pictures. The College is specifically looking for any pictures of an event called the "Book Passing". Around 200 Snow College stu- dents stood in a great chain stretching from the old library to the new one, and passed all the library books one by one to the new location. PLEASAN- T- North Sanpete High School counseling department is sponsoring the Presidents Student Service Award for students that complete 100 service hours in a period making them eligible to receive the Gold Service Award Pin and Certificate. th Application forms are SC gets money SALT LAKE CIT- Y- A State of Utah press release states that 22 communities and municipal districts throughout Utah are beneficiaries of more than $8 million in loans and grants from the Utah Permanent Community Impact Fund Board. Spring City will receive an $80,000 grant for emergency actions and repairs resulting from a flash flood in July. Funding from the Community Board Impact (CIB) totals $8,061,745 and helps state and local government agencies and entities that are or may be directly or indirectly impacted by mineral resource development on nearby federal lands. The board provides assistance for planning, construction and maintenance of public facilities, and providing public services. The CIB is a program of the Utah Division of Community Development. Sanpete County Commission Other Elected Officials and by Holly Lynne Simonsen EPHRAI- M- Snow College engineering students concocted vehicles powered solely by two mousetraps using a variety of objects, from CDs and records, to wood and metal scraps. Limitations were also involved in making the cars. The mousetraps had to be permanently attached to the car. The car had to be built from materials that could be found in the community using common hand tools, and any purchases were limited to $8. The cars were judged on the distance they traveled over a level floor, as well as the quality of the design. Seven groups, consisting of four of five people, competed in the competition. The groups were all students in Snows introductions to engineering class, or members of the Engineering Club. Results of the derby varied from cars only going six feet to over 17 feet. Courtney Leishman remarked that the mousetrap derby was a valuable learning experience that was more open-ende- d than most engineering assignments.
