Show Page Two - The Pyramid - December 23, 1998 Resident apologizes to family and community of Wal-mar- t, Gods gift to shoppers Dear Editor, I Merrill Ogden White Christmas f:. -- Like it or not, were going to have a white Christmas. If you want to avoid it, there is still time to book a flight to California where "the orange and palm trees sway." Or better yet, practice and saying "Melekalikimaka jump on a jet headed for Honolulu. 1 was thinking about these possibilities while I was snow over the shovelling weekend. I remembered a story I had read a few years ago which demonstrates the "two edged" nature of snowy winters. I found the piece, but cant identify the authorship. Its been circulated over the years but bears repeating. Dec. 4, 5 p.m. It started to snow, the first snow of the season. The wife and I took . out hot buttered rum and sat ' by the window watching the soft flakes drift down, clinging to the trees and covering the ground. It was beautiful. Dec. 9. We awoke to a big, beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering the land-- . scape. What a fantastic sight. Every tree and shrub covered with a beautiful white mantle. I shovelled snow for the . first time in years. And I loved it. I did both our driveway and our sidewalk. Later, the snowplow came along and covered up our driveway with compacted snow from the street. He smiled and I waved back. I shovelled it again. Dec. 13. It snowed eight inches last night and the temperature dropped to about zero F. Shovelled the sidewalk and driveway again. Shortly, the snowplow came by and did his trick again. Dec. 15. Sold our car and bought a 4X4 Blazer so we could get around in the snow. Bought snow tires for the pickup. Dec. 18. Fell on my && on the ice in the driveway. $123 to the chiropractor, but nothing was broken, thank Heaven. The ? sky is getting dark again. ! . . Josh Billings : Wal-Mar- Wal-Mar- am truly sorry to all of you I have hurt a lot of innocent people in my path of bad decisions. Only now that I am in a place where I am getting to the root of my problems, do I see the superficiality , the deceit, and the emptiness in the lifestyle I was living. For the past few years I was on an escalating path to my own and hurting those I love most along the way. Be- I for this. 'i 11 Utah State Prison Draper, Utah Volleyball standings MT. Words express little for all the flowers and kindness shown to our Mom and all of us at this time of sadness. We appreciate everyone who had a part in saving Eddies life, without your quick thinking action, he would not be here today.
