Temple. To Celebrate 90th tional Rotary Convention in Switzerland. On this trip, he had the privilege of visiting some of the places he had served in during World War I. Mr. Whitesides has touched the lives of many as an educator and leader of this community as well as throughout Davis County, by his willingness to always be a friend to all and also help those who needed his assistance. HE STILL cares for himself and home and is interested in community and world affairs. He was one of the eight former mayors of Kaysville who was recently honored for his service to the community by Mayor Gerald Purdy and the Kaysville Civic Association. HE IS the proud father of three children, his son Stephen White-side- s of Kaysville is following in his father's footsteps as an outstanding educator in the Davis County School District and there are two daughters. Caroline Ludlow, wife of Dr. E. A. Ludlow of Spanish Fork and Marilyn Dalton, wife of Attorney George Dalton of Palos Verdes, Calif. He has 12 EMIL WHITESIDES Noting his 90th birthday on Nov. 12 is Emil M. Whitesides of 51 S. 200 W Kays-vill- anniversary e. MR. WHITESIDES will be honored by his family on this specia occasion. He is admired and respected by his many fiiends and associates for the tremendous service he has rendered over the years to his family, school and community. Mr: Whitesides is a well known educator and historian and can enlighten anyone on the early events of Kaysville and Layton cities as well as Davis County. HE WAS born Nov. 12, 1894 in Layton, the son of Edward M. and Mary Harvey Whitesides. His father was also a well known educator in Davis County Schools. With his keen mind, he can provide much history to those who need special dates and events of grandchildren SHE WAS born Nov. 3, 1904 at the family home on Angel Street in Layton. Her parents were Rueben and Mary Isabell Layton Barnes. She spent her entire life in Layton and was educated in the schools of Davis County. THE BRIDE was attired in a hite chiffon gown with a four foot train. The bodice and sleeves were trimmed in lace. She wore a crow n of Lily of the Nile flowers and carried a bouquet of the same flowers. A reception followed the wedding ceremony at the hotel. Those in attendance included the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Affairs and DeAmbassadors to Turkish the fense, Zaire, Finland, United Arab Emirates, Major General Tunc and Lt. General Ozer of the Turkish Air Force and many other members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. w ON DEC. 17, 1925 she married Joseph Lloyd Weaver in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Oct. 6, 1976. She is the mother of two sons, Alan Barnes Weaver of Bountiful and Rulon Barnes Weaver of 11 greatg- CLOSE family members gathered at the Mandarin Res- in Bountiful for a family taurant dinner party. She also greeted family, friends and neighbors at the Weaver home throughout the day. She received numerous phone calls, gifts and cards. The day following her sons and further honored daughters-in-laher with dinner at LaCaille at Quail Run in Salt Lake City for Sunday Brunch. MRS. Mr. Whitesides also attended Utah Agricultural College in Logan from 1916-191HE WAS drafted into the U.S. Army in World War I. He first served in Fort Lewis, Washington and then sent to Camp Merritt, New Jersey prior to his assignment to France. He served in France until the Armistis was signed. Upon his return home, he was soon back into the education field. He was first assigned as principal of Centerville Elementary prior to being called to serve an LDS mission to the Eastern States (Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine). He returned home and was given a teaching job in the 8th grade at Farmington Elementary. WHILE AT this school, he met his future bride. Ruth Miriam of Salt Lake. She worked for the Red Cross as a public health nurse. They were married. After he continued his education and received his B.S. degree from the University of Utah. They made their first home in Cowley. Wyo. where he taught Seminary for one year. He was offered a job teaching at Davis High School and returned to Utah. Later he served as principal of Davis High School beginning in 1954. Mr. Whiteside's philosophy is Teachers have the most influence on their students. If a teacher demands discipline and is well qualified and if the teacher handles the students with respect , he or she will get the respect and the student will learn. 7. Mr. Moss is presently working for the U.S. Government in Ankara. Turkey. The wedding ceremony was performed by a Judge of the Turkish High Court and witnessed by Bill Jordan of Sacramento. Calif, and Haluk Bayulken of Ankara. Turkey.
