Barton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sprague and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Christiansen have returned from a 33 day motor vehicle trip to Alaska and Canada. They visited the cities of Fairbanks, Anchorage, Skagway, Homer, Whitehorse, Dawson City - and Dawson Creek, Edmonton, Calgary, Great Falls, Mont.; to Idaho Falls and home covering 7,600 miles and returning Saturday, Sept. I. At Homer, Alaska, they visted with Mr. Buhlers cousin. Coach and Mrs. Darrel White and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ray S. Odd entertained at a family reunion over the - Labor Day holiday weekend at ' their summer cabin in the Uintas. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. : Elton Over and daughter Leslie, Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Barnes and son Samuel, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Jones, all of Kaysville. Mrs. Elaine Rogerson underwent major surgery last week at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Colleen Erickson and three chil-- ; dren of Lewisville. Ida..isahouse-- j guest of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Verl A. Walker. Houseguests the past week of Mr. and Mrs. John Thacker and family are his parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. Weston Thacker, Mesa, Ariz. and his brother Dave and his sisterTeresa who are both students at Brigham Young University in Provo. Robert W. Bishop of Brigham i City and a former Kaysville resi-- : dent was one of two Utah State Representatives chosen to repre-- ; sent the United States Government at the National Government Conference in Germany, held at the University of Bonn in Berlin. The conference was for a three week period. State Representative Bishop is a j member of the National Confer-- i ence of State Representatives. Many other professionals were among those invited to attend. Mr. Bishop speaks German j ; fluently, he served an LDS mission to Germany and teaches German at j Ben Lomond High School in j Ogden. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. j Lloyd Bishop of Kaysville. j Mr. and Mrs. Gale F. Caldwell and two sons Brad and Clark vacationed this summer at Hawaii at Hilton Turtle Bay on the North ; Shore of the island of Oahu. G. Newell and Loretta Thurgood jof San Diego, Calif, were house-- i guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd A. Bishop. Holiday weekend visitors of Mr. land Mrs. Carl Sabin and family : were their two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sabin and son Gary II of Riverton; Mr. and Mrs. Danny Sabin and family of Ogden. On Sunday they celebrated the birth-:da- y ; : : j i ! j : ; : ; j I ; I ! i of Danny. anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bishop jattended the Hardy family reunion held on Aug. 27 at Centerville. Rulon and Oarlie Waite have just returned from an extended vacation. They first went to Jackson, Wyo. where they sang with the Utah Symphony Chorus at the Grand Teton Music Festival. They sang William Waltons Belshazzars Feast with the festival orchestra which consists of artists from the major orchestras of America. Before returning home they visited Yellowstone National Park and then visited with friends in Calgary, Canada and visited Waterton National Park, Banaff and Lake Louise, Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Galbraith are proud of their daughter-in-law- , Joyce Galbraith of Brigham City, wife of Joel when she participated in the Utah State Half Road Marathon races held in Salt Lake City west of the Salt Lake Airport on Saturday. It was a 13 mile race and Joyce won st place in overall, took the gold medal in the 5 age group and won the novice open to take three top honors in the race : Mrs. Gosendes brother and sister-in-laMr. and Mrs. Bob Bonne-mo- was a thrill and a honor. She received a beautiful large engraved plaque for first place and a ribbon for the novice as well as the gold medal. Mr. and Mrs. MeL Ward and family had as houseguests his brother Mr. and Mrs. Mike Ward and two children of Lewisburg, Pa.; another brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Ward and five children of Longmont, Colo. They entertained at a family gathering at their home in their honor. Other guests included Mr. Ward's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Ward of Riverside and Marilyn Ward of Ogden. Dr. and Mrs. Terry J. Preece and children Jenekah and Brandon returned home Wednesday from Jackson Hole, Wyo. and Yellowstone National Park on a five day trip. Dr. Preece attended the dental seminar at Yellowstone National Park over the Labor Day holiday. Mrs. Elmer Lotz of Burlington, Iowa spent a week with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lotz. Douglas Baldwin is convalescing at his home after recently undergoing open heart surgery at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Ratzlaff and son Richard Steven of Provo were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Killian. Visiting for 10 days with Mr. and Mrs. Farlin Murri was their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Murri and three daughters of El Toro, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. R. Rand Sheppard attended the funeral service of her father Richard Val Herrick held in Ogden Saturday at the Lindquist's and Sons Colonial Chapel. Visiting for one week with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lotz was her aunt, Mrs. VeraMuggleston of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. John Flint and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wright and family vacationed at Jackson Hole, Wyo. and Yellowstone National Park. Mr. and Mrs. Noal Croft of Hayburn, Ida. were guests this week of her sister, Mrs. Mary 1 . Members of the Athena Club held their opening social Wednesday evening with a dinner at the Sizzler Restaurant in Layton. Mrs. Marjorie Ann Burton is club president in chage. Stephen and Patti Graves have returned from a two week visit to New Mexico and Colorado. Five days were spent attending a Elderhostel session at Las Palomas de Taos, the Mabel Dodge Luhan estate near Taos, New Mexico. The session covered such areas as Pueblo Indian culture, foods of the Southwest, and Hispanic culture of New Mexico. After spending a fewl days in the Rio Grande Gorge Recreational area, they journeyed to Chama, New Mexico, to take the Cumbres-Tolte- c Narrow Gauge Train ride. They also visited Colo. Mrs. Ruth Otterstrom of Kaysville and her sister Mrs. Pat Phiriot of Salt Lake City motored to Big Springs, Island Park, Ida. where they were guests of relatives at their summer cabin. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Heath and her two sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Alden Merrell of Provo and Mrs. Velda Grover, Ogden, vacationed for a few days at Bear Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Don Garbutt and family of Idaho Falls, Ida. were Tel-lurid- e, weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Durrant vacationed recently at the Hawaiian Islands. Mrs. Edith Lewis accompanied her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lewis on a vacation trip last week to Jackson Hole, Wyo. and Yellowstone National Park. Mrs. Mary Timothy of Kaysville and her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack White of Orem spent last week at the Timothy summer cabin at Oakley. Mel Ward and his two brothers Doug Ward of Longmont, Colo, and Mike Ward of Lewisburg, Pa. and John Thacker and his brother Dave Thacker of Provo took a week backpack-fishin- KIT Weight Control Class Set LAYTON - A New Weigh of Life, a behavior modification program designed for permanent weight control, will be offered at the Tanner Memorial Clinic in Layton. Registration and first class will be Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. The course will run eight weeks, meeting each Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Cost is $50, with a refund of $ 0 for perfect attendance. A followup program is also available at reduced cost for those who have already taken the original class. Content of the course includes extensive behavior modification to help individuals recognize poor eating patterns and replace them with good food habits. An exchange diet is utilized, along with an exercise component, positive thinking, imagination exercises, and training in recipe adaptation and eating out. Instructors for the class are both registered dietitians. Elder Robert Rosier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Rosier left Thursday to enter the MTC in Provo prior to serving an LDS mission. Mrs. Marilyn Flint of Kaysville and her mother Mrs. Afton Taylor and her sister and family Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ford vacationed in Yellowstone National Park and Jackson Hole, Wyo. home in Burlingame, Calif, after a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bonnemort. They came to pick up their daughter Christina who had been staying with her grandmother the past Timothy. Preece entertained at dinner at their home for Mr. and Mrs. Lyman (Bud) Yarnell of Colton, Calif, who are visiting.
