Funeral services were held Dec. 20th. Attending were, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Ivy, Mr. and Mrs. Janice Robins, Glenda Quarnberg, Carolyn Bunker and Melvin Ivie. A brother, Cliff, and sister, Vivian, were not able to attend the services because of poor health. An excellent Rabbit Hunt was held Monday, Dec. 27th by the Elders Quorum. They had about forty men joining in the successful hunt. They were treated to a bowl of hot chili at the ward. Afterwhich, I'm told they headed home to soak their aching bodies in a tub of hot hot water! The Scipio Gold & Green Ball will be held this T uesday at the ward. A musical number will be presented by Elizabeth Monroe, Kristine Quarnberg, Todd Quarnberg, and Kurtis Robins. A special dance will be presented by the mutual kids. Janeen Monroes dance class will present a dance routine:Here Comes Santa Claus". Girls performing in the dance are: Carmen Mendoza, Tiffany Robins, Brandy Sorenson, Jessica James, Angel Lisonbee, Shelley Noland, Mara Lisonbee, Niki White, and Tracy Robins. Felipe and Tony Mendoza will also entertain by singing special selections. J.B. Country Sunshine Band will provide the dance music for the evening. Vernon and Evelyn Monroe now have an address for their son Terry, now serving on a mission. Elder Terry Monroe 102 North Vine No. D Plainfield, Indiana 46168 A birthday party was held at the home of Vernon and Evelyn Monroe for Vernons mother, Lorraine Monroe. Twenty-tw- o family members attended the special gathering. Also attending were special friends Stacy and Jill Jacobsen of Ephraim. Garth White has been made the new Scoutmaster. Steven James has been made the Scout Committee Chairman. We know they will both do a super job for Scipio. Holidays bring families together for special times and like many other towns, Scipio has lots of family members visiting from out of town. Kevin Chan and LaJean Memmott and family had Christmas Dinner at the home of LaJeans parents, Marden and Claire Stone. Also attending were Joe and Shelley Stone, Marlene Beamer and family from Provo. Life gives you time and space and you must fill it. Have a good week! ii D Ruth Allen enjoyed Christmas and the holidays in Orem with her daughter, Clarice, and family, the Royal Hurds. She and son, accompanied her daughter-in-laShirley and Dean Allen, on their way to Salt Lake. Pat Glassman and husband, Bill, of Ogden, were unable to join her parents, Arthur and Beth Allen here for Christmas. All the other Allen children and some for All the other Allen children were here for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and some for part of the holidays. David and Vicky Allen and little Kyle of Fillmore, La Daun Allen came from Cedar City, Jerry and Louise Imlay and four children of Evanston, Paul and Cindy Astle and two daughters of Midvale, Kevin and Marlene Christensen and four children from here, and Sheri still at home with parents. The cousins had a great time with their games, toys and each other and the grownups "saucers and old car tires behind a little motorized cart .With Grandpa at the wheel - the rides were very safe. DeAnn Allen spent Christmas and the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Allen, brothers, Bradley, and Mrs. Dean Allen, brothers, Bradley and Danny, and the latters wife, LaVon, and their three boys and little daughter. Swallow Kent conducted Bishop Sacrament meeting Dec. 26. Leif Alldredge and his wife, Jeneal, each gave a short talk, they were followed by their son, Elder Troy Alldredge, just returned this month from an LDS mission to Missouri - Independence Mission. He and his parents bore their testimonies. On Dec. 22 Clayton Williams came for a visit and to help is sister, Virgie Ivie. He shoveled snow which was really appreciated. They visted Delia! at the hospital. That evening Mark and and children, Julye, Jeremy, and Scott, came from Provo. They visted Grandpa Delial at the hospital, then on to Flowell to visit Grandma Virgie before going on to Beaver to visit Angelas family, the Don Baldwins. Angela Daley Michael, visiting. Grant Robinson went to Salt Lake City Dec. 24 to spend Christmas Eve with his wife, Arlene, and her mother, Laura Atha. Bart accompanied his father. Grant. Christmas Day, Laura served dinner to her children and grandchildren including Grant and Arleen's married sons, Kit and family, Kirk and family who live in the Salt Lake area. Arlene went to the city a week before to help her mother prepare. She, Grant and Ban returned home the evening of the 25th. Alan Christensen and wife, Janis, two sons and two little daughters visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orson Christensen and brothers, Paul and wife, Peggy, and children, and Clark and Teresa and baby, on Sunday. David Smith and his wife, Cindy Anderson Smith, spent Christmas and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Anderson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Durand Robison and two children of Provo and Tess Robison spent the weekend and Christmas with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Robison. They visited their sister and brother-in-laWendy and David Ellison, and Stella and grandmothers, children, Brinkerhoff and Fauntella Robison. Earl Brinkerhoff of Fillmore came to Flowell and took his mother, Stella Brinkerhoff, to spend Christmas with him, his wife, LaRee, and their three daughters. Mrs. Veta Rasmussen is at home after spending the past four months with her Gae and Gary daughter and Dean and children. She cared for her grandchildren while Gae finished her schooling at the U of U. Sunday Bill and Jean Jackson and three children took her mother, Veta, to Delta where they were dinner guests of Vetas daughter, Carol Frandsen, her husband, Grant, and three children. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Dugger and children of Ogden arrived Friday to spend Christmas Eve with Lennas parents, Mr. and Mrs. Avalon Johnson, after enjoying a delicious Christmas Day dinner the Duggers left for Palm Springs, Calif, leaving the children here with their grandparents. Bryan had meetings in Palm Springs as a CPA. They plan to be back here on Sat. The Johnson children, Mr. and Mrs. Phyl Johnson and children of Price, visited parents and enjoyed the evening dinner mother prepared. Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Day and Darrin of Fillmore enjoyed visiting with the family members. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Johnson of Tremonton visited his parents earlier in the month. Mr. and Mrs. Don Tomkinson and children, Rodney, Laurel, and Faun, worked hard to earn money prior to Christmas. They then pooled their resources and had as their Christmas gifts a trip to Disneyland leaving Dec. 24 for the sunny southern Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nielson had some of their children and families here for Christmas. On Christmas Day Grandpa Ray took the children on fun rides on After Christmas Specials- - Winchester Lever Action 22 MagRlfle Smith & Wesson celebrating his birthday. There will be a birthday party given in his honor at the home of his son and daughter-in-law- , Lynn and Carmen Nichol of Sandy and their children, Christie, Mark and Matthew. Other family members attending will be Allen and his wife Cindy Nichol and their son Josh, also Kenneth and Annette Day and their children. Because Mr. Nichol's birthday is in December they will also make this a Christmas celebration with the traditional dinner, games, exchanging gifts, and the most fun of all, a beautiful pinata, designed and made by Carmen for the children to break and gather cascading gifts and candy. Before the old year has made its exit, I would like to thank Mrs. John S. Parks (Ethelyn (Toots) Beauregard), formerly of Fillmore now of SLC, for her lovely and most appreciated letter and family news item. Who would drive around town on a Fillmore Highlights night when the temperature was near 20 degrees and a heavy snow was falling, and By Angie Green Descending on Fillmore for Christmas revelries were Beady Wood and David and Teddy Peterson of the Los Angeles Horror Pit. They had a celestial time at the hermitage visiting James Putnam and Lester Wood, Beady's sister. Stella and Belva Day had the pleasure of the company of Dwight and Sylvia Huntsman for Christmas dinner. On Dec. 29, Stellas daughter, Dalia, and her husband Wendell Paxton of Salt Lake, and her son Tom and his wife NaJean Day of Ogden will arrive for a New Years visit. John and Jeanne Dean drove to Salt Lake on Dec. 24 and spent the Christmas holiday with their daughter, Marguerite and her husband Bryan Johnson. Truman and Lucille Ashby drove to Kearns on Dec. 22 to spend the Christmas holidays with their children. They stopped first at the home of their son, Bob, and his wife, Mae where they stayed two days and were able to enjoy a visit with their granddaughters Cathy Rice and her two children, Micky and Jennie, and Lorraine and her husband, Norman Dingman and their children, Vanita, Danita, Melisa and Angie of Huntington, Utah. On Christmas eve they drove to Clinton, Utah where they spent Christmas with their son, Bill, his wife, Ileene, and their children, Scott, DeAnn, Kevin and Kenneth. They especially enjoyed this visit because Scott has been called to serve a mission in Japan, and will enter the Language Home on Feb. 3. Truman and Lucille returned home Dec. 27 after being able to spend this joyous thneofyear with their children. Dwight Huntsmans brother, Knox and his wife, Judy and their son Tim of Monterey, Mexico came for the holidays, spending a few days with Dwight and Sylvia, and then going on to Salt Lake to spend Christmas Day with their daughter, Sylvia and their two granddaughters. Harold and Mae Cahoon motored to Murray on Dec. 18 to attend a family Christmas party at the home of their Barbara and daughter and Allen Wood. Thirty-tw- o members of the family attended this joyful Mae and Harold stayed overnight, coming home on Dec. 19. They spent Christmas Day at home answering the telephone. All members of their family, children and grandchildren, called to wish them a Merry Christmas. Thomas and Marie Jensen entertained Maries family on Christmas Day. This is the First time all of her family have been together in three years. The guests included Maries parents, Dr. and Mrs. Floyd Holm of Cedar City, her two sisters and brother, Loretta Nielson of Richfield, Suzanne Blaksley of Provo, and Floyd Holm Jr. of Salt Lake. Also included were Maries son: Bob and Mitch who are attending BYU, and her nine year old daughter, Joy. Kenneth and Annette Day are having a special time this holiday season. This is the first time in three years the family has been throw very small puppies out of their car? Someone did on the night of Dec. 24 around 12 a.m. rescured one, but if there were others dropped off in other areas I'm sure they didnt make it through the night. Whoever did this, could their Christmas have been very jolly, or are they feeling quite pleased with themselves to think they have disposed of a litter of puppies? The thought of this cruel act really spoiled my holiday. I hope that in the New Year those who have female cats or dogs and dont wan, the hassle of kittens and puppies will go without one luxury and use the money to have their pet spayed. At first it seems a dreadful expense, but in the long run it is the best investment you can make. It buys a happy pet and owner. Dont throw puppies and kittens 1 away. They are working in the St. George Temple and were on their way to visit their children for Christmas. Bill and Sandra Green and boys of SLC and Greg and Judy Wood of Elk Ridge spent the Christmas weekend with their parents, Jay and Helen Stevens, also their brother, Niel, and Ranae Stevens and son. At the home of Jess and Estell Bennett for the Christmas weekend were Melvin and Jerris Bennett and family of Sandy and Karl and Sue Esplin and family of Cedar City. Brent and Debbie Bennett and family also joined the group. Coming to spend Christmas Day with their parents, Carl and Phyllis Bennett, were Richard and Sandy Wade and family of Fillmore, Richard and Janet Robins and family of Cedar City, and Steve of Spanish Fork. Joining them were Rick and Madelyn Bennett and family. Lyle and Merene Owen and family drove from their home in North Salt Lake Christmas Day, coming to spend until with their mother and Monday and grandmother, Stella Stephenson, Dawn. Ralph and Susan Duncan and family of Meadow and Mark and LaRee Stephenson and family joined the group for a Christmas Day dinner. Larry and Susan Boucher and family of Las Vegas, Nev. arrived Sunday afternoon to spend a few days with their parents, Sidney and Betty H unter. Bill and Helen Rigby and children of Centerville came to spend Christmas with their mother, Ellen Stevens. Jim and Marsha Staas of Ely, Nev. spent Christmas with their mother, Ethel Wood, and grandma, Vera Nixon. Connie Coles and daughter, Christmin, of SLC came to spend Christmas with her mother, Beth Crosland. Sunday Roy and Lucille Johnson and two children arrived at the home their mother, LaNola Johnson, for an overnight visit. They were on their way to Self Image and Esteem. Refreshments were served. Chad Whitaker took charge. Ill Disneyland. Van and Birdie Melville of Brigham City called at the home of their sister, LaNola Johnson, for a short visit. They were on their way to Fillmore to see Bemiece Stott. Spending Christmas with their parents, Warren and Ella Crosland, and Russell were Jeri of SLC and Linda of Orem. Ireta Beckstrand Ireta E. Beckstrand, 84, died Dec. 23, 982 in a Salt Lake hospital. She was born on July 7, 1898 in r Koosharem, Utah to John and Julia Hancock Christensen. She married John M. Beckstrand on Feb. 28, 1931 in Beaver, Utah; he died on June 19, 1952. She is survived by: children, Mrs. Wallace (Claire) Brimley, of Sandy; Lloyd, Salt Lake; Mrs. John (Mary Dean) McGovern, of Calif. Also survived by eight grandchildren who loved her dearly Jane Christensen, of and a Meadow, Utah. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 27, at 11:00 a.m. in the Olpin Mortuary chapel, Fillmore. Burial in the (Kanosh Kapers By Dathel Whitaker j Glen and Lilly Whitaker drove to St. George on Tuesday, Dec. 21 to visit Lillys Grandmother Burgess and other relatives. They brought their daughter, Valerie Whitney, back with them to spend a few days before Christmas. Valerie's husband, Earl, came up Christmas Eve to be with the family over the holiday. They plan to return on Monday, Dec. 27 where he and Valerie attend Dixie College. On Wednesday, Dec.22, Carma Cutler of Elsinore and Leora Allen from Rickfield stopped in Kanosh to visit their sister, Dathel Whitaker, and in Meadow to see another sister. Iris Bond. The main purpose of their trip over the mountain, was to spend some time with their close friend, Dorothy Halsey, who had recently lost her husband, Terry. Leora and Dorothy had become very close as they spent many anxious hours together at the Veterans Hospital in SLC where their husbands were recovering from serious wounds received in action while serving in the war. Carma and Terry were the same age so had grown up together, through their childhood and school years. Their sister, Iris, joined them to go to visit Dorothy and they reported that they spent an enjoyable afternoon together. Orval and Hope Kimball have enjoyed having their son, Kirk, wife, Kathy, and two children, Ryan and Jill, from Logan here to spend the Christmas holidays with them. Coming to spend the holidays with President Afton Staples and wife, Lorraine, have been their son, Randy, his wife, Kathy, and daughter from Centerville, Utah. Their daughter, Denise Christiansen, her husband, Boyd, and three children and Vickie another Larsen, daughter, husband, Eric, and daughter, all from Fillmore joined the family in Kanosh. With Gordan and wife, Dahlene, and two children living in Kanosh, the only family members not with the Staples was their son, Steve, and family. Taft and Maurine Paxtons holiday season has been made more joyous by' having their son, Frank, wife, Sherry, and three children, Casey, De Elte, and Heidi, here with them from Eureka, Nev. Their daughter, Tonya, joined the family for Christmas. She lives in St. George and is teaching school. Arriving at the Bill and Arlene Turner home on Dec. 26, were their son, David, wife, Natalie, and son, Nicolas, from Fresno, Cal. They will spend a week in Kanosh visiting family and friends. Lee and Marian Madsen and two sons, Troy and Eric, always enjoy coming to Kanosh every chance they have so the Christmas holidays was one of them. Kanosh Ward Bishopric, their wives and families; Ward Clerk Terry Higgs and Financial Steven family; Clerk, Christensen and family, met at the Cultural Hall on Thursday evening Dec. 23 for a Bishopric party. Marion and Melody Kesler were happy to have her parents, J.C. and Margaret Christiansen, from Bountiful in Kanosh to enjoy the Christmas holiday with them. Sacrament meeting Sunday Dec. 26 was conducted by Counselor Cleve Christen- sister-in-la- Meadow Cemetery. Avera Brunson Funeral Dec. 13, 1982. Those attending from Meadow were: Wells Brunson, Jane Christensen, DeLyle and Shannon Carling. Interment in the Meadow Marion Jepsen Marior Jepsen, 70, of Richfield, died Dec. 20, 1 982 in a Salt Lake City hospital. He was born April II, 1912 in Richfield, Utah to Alfred Raymond and Nellie Ammon Potter. He married Allene Griffin Haws on October II, 1937 in Richfield. He was a veteran of World War II. He was employed by Richfield City as City Cemetery Caretaker for 10 years until his retirement and then worked part time for the Richfield Auction. Mr. Jepsen is survived by his wife of Richfield, three daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Dorette) Gledhill, Elsinore, Utah; Mrs. LaRae) Edwards, Clayton (Tonie Fillmore, Utah; Mrs. Jim (Marion LaNeda) Van Cura, Fairbanks, Alaska; Sherill Haws, Wendover, one Nevada; One granddaughter, whom he 18 Brown; Sammy raised, Kay grandchildren; 10 four brothers, Reed Jepsen, Henderson, Nevada; Neal Jepsen, Boulder, Utah; Alfred Jepsen and Bryce Jepsen, both of Fremont, California; three sisters, Mrs. Ted (Vera) Hansen, Richfield; Mrs. Ruth Forbush, Monroe; and Mrs. Norma Ellis, San Leandro, California. He was preceded in death by one son, David Andrew Jepsen; one daughter, Mrs. Saundra Brown; a brother, Richard Jepsen, and a sister, Dolly Jepsen. Funeral services were held Friday, December 24, 1982, at 11 a.m. in the Richfield 11th LDS Ward Chapel as step-so- follows. David Campbell officiated at the services. Military Rites were provided by V.F.W. Post 5050 in the Richfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Les Gledhill, Clayton Edwards, Perry Payne, Carlos Hansen, Jason Edwards, Steven Haws, Randy Haws, Darrell Gledhill, David Edwards, Bob Yardley, Fred Jepsen, Douglas Haws, and Niel H. Jepsen. Dedication of the Grave was by Ted Lee Hansen. Interment was in the Richfield City Cemetery under the direction of Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield. $7.50 family. Jana Powers was recognized as being the newest member of the Kanosh Ward. Her baptism took place Sunday evening, Dec. 12.
