They took her to Garth and Carma, Kent and Sacramento to visit another Peggy and their children. of their daughters, Roberta, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Allen great-grandm- a Kanosh Kapers By Dathel Whitaker Addition to the news in last week's Progress is the attendance of Sister Clara Burgess at Sacrament meeting in Kanosh on Aug. 1st to witness the blessing of her Arian-n- a Larson, daughter of Christian and Denise Whitaker Larson. Sister Burgess is the mother of Audrey Quigley. Mr. and Mrs. Virge Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. Leavitt Christensen attended the Joseph and Florence (Leavitt) Christensen reunion in Ogden, on July 31st at the home of Mrs. Gloria Watts Rabe. The 60 family members who attended enjoyed this very special day. Beulah and Lamar Christensen spent some time in Kanosh recently, getting their grain harvested. While here they occupy their trailer house which is parked on the lot they purchased from Nora Price, which was earlier owned by Abinadi Abraham. Another successful Ward adult campout was held on Fri. and Sat. Aug. 6 & 7th at Indian Creek near Manders-fielReservoir. This annual party is growing each year. There were approximately 120 who came to enjoy the delicious dutch oven chicken supper prepared by the High Priests and to join in singing around the large campfire, along with other activities. Around 85 persons were served a most delicious breakfast prepared by the Elders Quorum. The weather was delight d ful. Couples are already making plans to attend next year's. Faye and Calvin Kesler; their three sons; and grandmother Lula George, attended Sacrament meeting in Beaver on Aug. 8th to hear the Missionary report of Janet Kesler, daughter of Joe and Carol Kesler, who just returned from serving a mission in Ecuador. in Sacrament meeting Kanosh was conducted by ChrisCounselor Geve tensen. Guest speaker was Elder Bevin Johnson of Fillmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Johnson, who were also in attendance. Elder Johnson returned three months ago from the South Carolina - Columbia Mission. His report was very interesting. Bishop David Christensen was excused from the Ward Sacrament meeting because he was in Cedar City, attending a Lamanite Conference. Youths from the Kanosh Ward also attending were: Ann Marie Pikyavit, daughter of Phyl and Jeannie; t, Stephanie and Sherma daughters of Madelyn. Guest speakers at the Elders Conference were George Lee and Dale Tingey. During the past week, 14 boys and nine girls, from Kanosh Ward, had the privilege of doing baptisms for the dead in the Jordan River Temple, each doing 15 names. Chaperones were: Marian and Lee Madsen; Lilly Whitaker; Bishop David Christensen and Dean Red-foo- and son, Bradley, went to SLC Aug. 6 for a few days visiting with their daughters, Deann and Vicky and the tatters husband, Aril Butcher and children. Brad stayed for a longer visit.. Dean and Shirley came to Orem on Sunday where they visited Royal and Garice Hurd and family. Dean assisted when Royal gave his little granddaughter the name Amber Lynn and a blessing. Ruth Allen went to Orem on Sat. to visit and witness the naming of her the daughter of her grandson, Ken Hurd, and Shirley, Sunday. Connie Hurd came with them to vacation with Grandma Ruth Neilson Keith spent several days here visiting his parents, Don and Jean Neilson, at Gear Lake, while looking after his farming interests in Pahvant. He is employed in Alaska. Mr. arfd Mrs. Lee Hogan and children spent several days with Deane's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Robinson, and brother, Dale. They were returning from a Hogan family reunion in Alden Calif. Petaluma, Robinson, his wife. Brenda, and two children arrived from Hurricane in time to visit his sister, Diane, and family before the Hogans left for their home in Salmon, Idaho. Lee and family also spent some time with his twin sister, Lynn Allen, and family while here. Alden is on vacation from his job and enjoying part of it with his parents, Ralph and Leah. Alice Sorenson and daughters. Susan and Marge, hosted a bridal shower Aug. 6 for Cindy Anderson. This was a lovely occasion, the weather cooperating beautifully for this outdoor lav party held on the east lawn at the church house. The bride to be received many beautiful and useful gifts. There was a large crowd in attendance. Cindy's grandmother, Irene Anderson, and aunt Anderson, Phyllis Loyd and children, Esther, Susan and John came from Springville for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Cindy) Astle and daughters came Aug. 4. The little girls stayed here with grandparents, Arthur and Beth Allen, to enjoy a visit to Cedar City, St. George and Bryce Canyon. At Cedar City they visited Cindys sister, LaDawn Allen. Grandma Beth says these little granddaughters keep her young. They are little live wires. They had fun playing with little Christensen their cousins Curtis, Casey, and Angela. The Astles returned here Sat. evening. Mr. and Mrs. Monte Ivie and children Robyn, Kelly, and Gregory and the girls friend, Shiela Carter, came to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delial Ivie. The next day they all pitched in to help with many jobs. On . ; This week in MILLARD COUNTY Fillmore Highlights By Angie Green What does it take to make a caravan, or a super campout, or an exhilarating hike up a mountain peak? I would say beautiful young people with a love for the great outdoors, and all thai is wild and wonderful, not to mention smoke in your eyes, gnat bites, burnt hot dogs, a blistered heal, and, ouch, a painful sunburn. I think the Edwards families could tell you all about it even though they went in style with all the luxuries of home. On Aug. 6 and 7 Dale and Linda Edwards and their four children Emily, Devin, Echo, and Elise of Fillmore, and Dale's twin brother, Dean, and wife, Lana Edwards, and four children Angela, Scott, Corey, and Brady of Delta, and Maude and E.W. Edwards of Spanish Fork, parents of Dale and Dean, made up this special caravan enriched by a lovely green and white trailer home belonging to E.W. and Maude. They went to Lehman Caves where they its wonderous explored caverns, camped there for the night, and the next day climbed wheeler peak and hiked to two different lakes. If there had been time for post cards they would have read, Having a wonderful time, wish you were here." out of Forty-fou- r family members came on Saturday, July 31. to attend Zina Hunter's open house held Sunday afternoon to celebrate her 80th birthday. The open house was held on the back lawn and refreshments, nuts, punch, cookies, and peppermint creams made by the daughters and granddaughters was served. There were 181 including 44 family members who came Tuesday they went to SLC to visit the LDS Temple Square, Visitors Center, the Zoo and other places of interest. On Wed. they left for their home in Las Vegas, going by way of Lehmans Cave. While here the children slept outside in their tents, which delighted them, the cool refreshing air. Virgie and Delial appreciate the help from their families. Monte and Rhea Baughman and children, all helped with many chores. Mrs. B.N. forty-eig- to wish Zina a happy birth- day. Monday Aug. 2 the family gathered together to begin the Morris and Zina Hunter family reunion which lasted until Saturday Aug. 7. After lunch on Monday they all traveled, caravan style, to Cedar City, where they stopped at the Canyon Park. They had a barbeque dinner and a family home evening program. Kerry went to the BYU for three weeks to coack at the Basketball Clinic, while he was there Tafta visited her parents, Robert and Beene Johnson her and also in Provo, brother, Robert, his wife, Sandy and their two children. This w as quite a joyous occasion for Tafta because she hadn't seen her brother, but only briefly, for six years. Robert served a two year mission in Germany, came home, was married, and they returned to Germany on a job assignment, and stayed four years. While Tafta was in Provo she also enjoyed a visit with Kerry's parents Kenneth and Na Non Watson in Orem. Tafta's parents garden had an abundance of string beans so she bottled lots of them to bring home and add to their winter storage. On July 24 Thomas D. and Marilvnn Terry and children, Tim, David, Amy and Christi went to a Thomas Sirl and Roxana Jane Woods Terry family reunion at the large original Terry ranch in Enterprise. Utah. During a discussion of family history the subject came up of the death of two infant daughters belonging to Sirl and Roxana.
