Arnold Williams, former Governor of Idaho. The presentation was followed by horse races and a horse show at the fairgrounds. A dance concluded the day's celebration. Scheduled for today, the Fourth of July, is the Pioneer Parade, a program sponsored by the East Millard DUP with former Governor C.L. Olson as guest speaker, childrens sports in the city park, horse races, baseball game Fillmore vs. Oak City, pageant at the high school grounds, fireworks at the baseball diamond, and a dance. Tomorrow will be another parade, a program with Governor Herbert B. Maw as guest speaker, horse races, a pageant, and concluding the centennial events will be another dance. 60 Years Ago - June 30, 1922 Outdoor recreation seekers will welcome with pleasure the announcement that a first class trail has been completed into a new section of the mountains east of town. Heretofore Paradise Canyon has been about the only part of the mountains that pleasure seekers could get into without difficulty, but now it is possible to sit on a horse and penetrate the wilds of Chalk Creek, Choke Cherry and Nephi canyons. He is the brother of my husband, Richard Erven Day, and since he was just a year and a half younger than Erven, he was very dear to Erven. There were fourteen children in the family, nine boys and five girls, which tells us that those children were all Kim Rhodes Rod Quarnberg taught to work early in life. Their father, James Day, came to Utah with his older brother, John, John's wife, Mary, and their baby son, Rufus, in 1869.
