Hal Beckstrand and Marilyn De Uries of West Jordu attended the services with them. Hal and Jolynn Beckstrand and children, Melissa and Christopher spent a long weekend with Harold and Nadean Beckstrand and Jay. Hal was in Cedar City Monday and Tuesday on business his leaving wife and children for a longer visit with the Beckstrands. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Hatch stopped for a short visit with Harold and NaDean Beckstrand and family on their way back to their home in Cedar City after attending LDS General Conference in SLC, Mrs. Hatch and NaDean are sisters. The Robinsons invited their niece Ruthmary Brower to enjoy dinner with the family Sat. evening and again on Sunday evening, They enjoyed visiting and viewing home movies, The Neffs and Ruth are Ordinance Workers three days a week at Jordan Temple. Alden Robinson was here over the weekend to help his fatter Ralph Robinson brand cattle. Mr. and Mrs. John Sevey came from their home in Kearns to help his father-in-laRalph, with the cattle also. This is a big job and of course Dale helped his fatter and brothers. Leah enjoyed having the girls Brenda Robinson and children and Jolene Sevey and children visit while the men were busy. Highlight of the convention for members of the Millard Eagle FFA Chapter came in the concluding session Wednesday when Chapter President, Kevin Cumelected was mings, President of the Utah FFA the for Association coming year. Kevin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clay Cummings of Fillmore. Kevin also scored heavily in otter areas as he was one of four in the state to receive Union Pacific Scholarship for $500.00, received a $100.00 died and a beautiful plaque as state winner in the Proficiency Award in Operations, Nursery a $50.00, presented check as 3rd place winner in the Proficiency Award Beef Production, and received the State Citizenship dtation and trophy presented by Mr. Mark Nichols, former State FFA Advisor. At the annual Sweetheart Banquet held Wednesday evening Kevin Cummings, his parents and Advisor, Robert A. Nielson were honored as Kevin was recognized as second place Star State Farmer in Agriculture Production and presented with another check in the amount of $100.00 Otter chapter members placing first in state included competition LaDell Swallow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Garth Swallow, Flowell, who was honored as Star State Greenhand in agriculture production. This award carried a $100.00 check from the Utah Farm Bureau Federation and a plaque. Ryan Monroe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Monroe, Sdpio was also presented a $100.00 check and plaque as state winner in the in Proficiency award Recreation. Outdoor and LaDeBs Ryans parents and advisor were also recognized in the above presentations. The chapter will also have another member the receive coveted of American degree Farmer at the National FFA Convention next November as Ben Hunter, Association. son of Mr. and Mrs. Sid Hunter, Holden, was approved to receive the degree in Agribusiness. A new chapter record was set this year as ten members of the chapter received the Degree of State Farmer. Prior to this year the greatest number ever to receive the degree in one year was seven, and only one other chapter equalled the Millard chapter in number of members receiving the degree this year. Members receiving the degree are: Joe Brinkerhoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Fillmore; Brinkerhoff, Karl Begay, foster son of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Harmon, Holden; Andrade Christensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Christensen, Flowell; Brian Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Miller, Holden; Sam Probe rt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Probert, Sdpio; Todd Quarnberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Quarnberg, Sdpio; Kurds Robins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Robins, Sdpio; Darrin Rhodes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rhodes, Fillmore; Jay Beckstrand, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beckstrand, Meadow; and Harold Robison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alison Robison, Fillmore. Also at the Sweetheart the Millard Banquet, Advisor, Chapter Eagle Robert A. Nielson, was honored by the Utah FFA Association with a plaque for Distinguished Service to the FFA."
