First Presidency Easter Message The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints has issued the following message for Easter y 1982: "At this Easter season, we declare to all that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.' Through his death and resurrection we are given life everlasting. "Since the Lords mortal ministry, many have despised and rejected him. Many have been ignorant of the price He paid for all mankind with his atonement; and many, even knowing of his sacrifice, have chosen to disregard it. Many have never known the joy of repentance, made possible through His atonement; nor have they known the peace of heart that comes to those who believe in His resurrection. "We repeat the words of an ancient prophet; Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, nil ye upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7). "We urge all people to search the Saviors life for truths that will guide and give meaning to their own lives. And especially as we commemorate His groat gifts to us we urge all to follow his example, that they may be able to enjoy the abundant blessings of God. Church President Spencer W. Another Fillmore landmark bows out The "Circle S, a landmark business the final in Fillmore closed hs doors for time recently when Guy and LueDa Mitchell discontinued their operation of the tavern. The Circle S was more than just another tavern, it was gathering place, a meeting place, the flavor of a disappearing, but never to be forgotten Fillmore. Guy and Luella have owned the Circle S since 1956 when they purchased from Vance and Jane Wilson. Guy turned 82 on Feb. 12th and LueDa at 70 says it's about time to retire. They sold all their fixtures, the old backbar and many other antiques to Don Daly and Tom Downing of Delta and closed their doors. DCR Department Store next door is planning to expand their operation to include the area of the building formerly occupied by the Circle S. The antique backbar wiD still lend itself to life as the new owners are putting it to use in their new operation, the Stock-man- s Lounge in Delta. Many fond memories were made in the old Circle S, back in the days when it was a confectionery and beer bar combined. People stopped for a fountain lunch or an ice cream cone. It was a high school hangout and in the evenings the men would stop for a cool one during the hot summer. Guy made Rocky Mountain Oysters and Sweetbread for the regular group that gathered there and served his own special Ox Tail Soup to his hunting buddies. Etta and Frank Aldredge bought it from Howard Johns in approximately 1940 and ran it until Vance and Jane Wilson bought it in 1954. The Wilsons owned it for only two years with Jen Louder and Dortha Nielson operating it for them. Vance and Jane installed new upholstered booths during their ownership. Up until then it had gray wooden booths. Guy and LueDa installed a good stove after they purchased it. Before that just a makeshift grill was in operation. Guys and LueOas sunny smiles and the old Circle S will be missed, but after all these years they more than deserve their retirement.
