Show the tended Washington Elementary School. When he was 13 he went with his family to Chester to live, where they could help Grandfather Martin on the farm. They stayed in Chester for four years, then moved to Provo, where Wm. Ray attended, the Lincoln and Spencer schools. Summer time, and the Sweet 16 age! Both Thelda and Ray were employed by the Pacific Grove Canning Co., (now the Chruch Welfare Cannery). Tney were sorting and canning peas. Ray said he ran the filling machine, filling 120 cans per but in between, and, minute when at leisure, you can imagine what a teen-ag-e boy would do with so many girls around, the peas...yes, flipping , sorting peas! One caught young Thelda, and so were her eyes and heart Jackson . Mr. and Mrs. William LeRay Jackson, Fountain Green, will, celebrate their Golden wedding' on Monday, June 7. They will be anniversary (1926-197- honored by their family at an' open house on Saturday, June 19, to be held at the home of their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs.. George (Thelda Maurine) Stuer in Bountiful. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, were married at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Carter, Provo June 7, 1926 by Bishop Andrew Jensen. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, October 20, 1927. are the parents of eight children: Mrs. Howard (Cecil) They Fullmer, Salt Lake City;' Doyle Jackson, North Salt Lake; Donald Edward, Rancho Cordova, Calif; Mrs. William John T. (Joann) Bountiful; Mrs. Renae) (Patricia Eggett, Malcom Steele, Crestview, Fla; Mrs. George (Nancy Kaye) Whitehead, San Diego, Calif; Mrs. George Stuer, (Thelda Maurine) Bountiful; Mrs. William M. (Carol Lee) Roberts, Car- michael, Calif. They have 29 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Jackson has one brother, Arden Carter of Salt Lake City. Mr. Jackson has two sisters, Mrs. John (Theda) Emmons, and Lillian Olsen, both of Provo. Mrs. Jackson, the former Thelda Carter, was born in Nephi to Edward W. and Cecil Goldsburgh Carter. When she was four years old, the family moved to Knightsville, near Eureka, where they lived for nine years. Theldas mother died at that time, so at age 13, Thelda went to Provo to live with her grandparents and attended school. She sort of thought of graduating from the Provo High School, but her heart had dif- ferent feelings, for at the tender age of 17, with cupid hitting almost at once, she left school to marry Ray Jackson. Wm. LeRay Jackson was born, in Salt Lake City to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. W. (Mary Esther Martin) Jackson. His mother was the daughter of Samuel Henry Martin of Chester, Utah. Their first date was after work, when Ray took a group of the girls home, and later made a show their first big date and dinner. So, in a year these two were married. Since that time, they have been in many places and have had many experiences. They lived in Provo for two years, then moved to Heber, back to Provo, on to Salt Lake where he worked with a construction company; to Bountiful and worked in the Power Company. Their next move took them to Sacramento, Calif, for five years, then to Carmichael, and from there to Utah and Fountain Green. Mr. Jackson retired from employment with others, but is well employed at home where he is busy doing all kinds of things, their home, building remodeling, gardening, and as he says: I am a jack of all trades. Mrs. Jackson, well loved in our city, has worked in the Relief Society in many of the places they have lived. She has been president of the Sacramento First Ward Relief Society; a counselor in Carmichael, and a wonderful counselor in the Ftn. Green Relief Sciety. Always was busy and helpful! She has also .worked in the Sunday School and in Primary associations California. She likes to keep house, and enjoys the beauty of their home she and her husband have, and are still making and remodeling. She does a lot of handwork, especially knitting and crocheting. Mr. Jacksons church jobs have been president of the Elders in Sacramento; High Priest secretary for 10 years in the American River Stake in Sacramento Carmichael, and! in Moroni Stake, worked asi counselor in. the Stake. Sunday . School., a,, " The Jacksons' have already! n had a wedding party. During April, they visited in California with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. (Carol Lee) Roberts. William and Carol Lee planned a real surprise party for their parents for the coming golden wedding anniversary. It really was at surprise, and a very pleasant one, for many friends came from various parts of Carmichael, and the area, some the Jacksons had worked with in both church and employment jobs.
