It will be held at the Fillmore Elementary School, classes are scheduled to begin June 16, 1980 and run to August 15, 1980. The program provides a learning experience for children years of age. The migrant families come primarily from the mushroom plant west of Fillmore. In addition to the educational program, lunches are provided for the children under the special food service plan. Free lunch will be made available to those meeting the approved eligibility criteria and will be offered without regard to race, creed, color, national origin or handicap. Prior to the start of the project the public may make suggestions or recommendations concerning the migrant education program. These suggestions or recommendations should be directed to Jack Fowles at the District Office, Delta, Utah. Last Years meet went over BIG and another great meet is promised for 1980. Quarter Horse Futurity and Derby are scheduled for Friday with a thoroughbred Futurity and Derby set for Saturday. In the good old days when race horses were going strong all over Utah, Fillmore had the reputation of a very good meet and people who follow this sport are looking forward to keeping this name. A p John Peter Zenger was tried to 1733 on a charge of libel for writing "Scurrilous, Scandalous, and Virulent Reflections" upon Governor Cosby of New York. The stories he wrote in the Weekly New York Journal reported how the Governor used his power to take liberty and property away from people to make himself more powerful and wealthy. His defense attorney, Alexander Hamilton, presented a vigorous and appealing argument to the jury that resulted in acquittal for Zenger, and the establishment of truth as a de- fense against libel. Numerous calls have been made to the Sheriff's office to report fires that have turned out to be controlled burns. If a call is made to the Sheriff's office first, this will eliminate sending the firetrucks out on false alarms. Tryouts for this years pageant will be held Saturday. Hv County Fair to be Held in Fillmore This year the Millard County Fair will be held in Fillmore. Abe Johnson is the chairman. Abe has a lot of good ideas to make this the best fair yet in Millard County. The Fair is scheduled for public viewing of exhibits August 8 and 9. The Chief Kanosh Pageant will run in conjunction with the fair on August 7, 8 and 9. We certainly hope all of you are making plans to enter items in the fair. Kanosh. 29, of Kanosh was found dead in his car in a field just off Midvalley Road six miles north of Cedar p r City early Saturday morning. Kanosh apparently lost control of Li his car, ran off the road, struck a mailL box, rebounded across the road, and hit a cement ditch according to a spokesman for the Iron County Sheriff.
