George Edward Katzenberger 1926 ~ 2003 On September 28, 2003, our beautiful mother, grandmother, friend and gracious southern lady completed her Walter M. Katzenberger, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away September 28, 2003 at the age of 77. Walter was born May 23, 1926 in Allenton, Wisconsin | and retired after 20 plus ears with the U.S. Navy as a Chief uartermaster. He was employed by the Utah Geological Survey and did research on the Great Salt Lake for 10 years. For him the Lake would always hoid a special place in his heart. Walt enjoyed skiing, weekends at his cabin in the Uintas and hunting, nihiegfae building things. In early morning hours of Sunday, September 28, 2003 Walter Katzenberger was called by St. Peter to load his last chair to the top. He had an important date with past friends and long since members of the WILD OLD BUNCH of Alta, Utah. He had to leave his wife Ruth of 55 years and family. He always said. skiing was for her therapy and his. Survivors include wife, Ruth, daughter Patricia Roberts ieune son Michael Katzenberger (Joy), daughter Christine Katzenberger, grandchildren Wendy and Math Katzenberger and nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers please donate to Alzheimers Research, St. Ambrose Building Fund or Cosgriff School in Walters name. Services will be held Wednesday Oct Ist at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 South 2300 East. Visitation will be 10am to 10:30 am. Born April 21, 1985, in Salt Lake City. Kristopher was the only child of Sione Manu andPriscilla Ate. Kristopher was loving, friendly, smart, outgoing, and kind to those around him. He was an active member ot the LDS church, loved to read the scriptures and developed the gift of neon them. His love for the Lord and for his family helped him to achieve his Eagle Scout at age 12; Duty to God recognition; and to graduate from seminary with all four ears. He was an honor student at ighland High School where he enjoyed hanging out with his friends and watching football games with his dad. Kristopher was very special to his power and shared a close bond with oth of them. He was loved very much by his parents, family, and frien and will be missed dearly. Services will be Thurs. MAGNA - Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Stanley Wilford Olsen, 92, passed away Sept. 28, 2003 after a brief illness. Stan was born December 7, 1910 in Vineyard, Utah to Ole and Harriet Olsen. He married Evalyn Orton on March 21, 1933; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Stan had been a trapper since childhood and had a variety of other jobs, including a painter and wallpaper poner in Garfield for Utah Copper Co. He operated the water pumps and drove a truck for Kennecott Copper until retiring in 1972. he was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served 15 years as scoutmaster, counselor in the YMMIA, magazine representative, secretary to the "e Priest Group, temple worker in the Jordan River Temple, and home teacher. Survived by his wife; seven children, Emma Lee (Nile) Peterson, Carol Dean (Kelvin) Brown, Darel (Barbara) Olsen, Delila Jo (Dennis) Jensen, Eva Ruth (Carl) Jones, Doniela (Ronald) Shoemaker, and Georgia Lynn Bello; 44 grandchildren; 129 great- grandchildren; and 29 great-greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by infant son, Lamont. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2003 at the Magna East Stake Center, 2875 South 8000 West. Don at tended McCallister College and re ceived a Masters Degree of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He served his country as a second lieutenant in the army during World War Il. Don married Joyce Goranson on January 14, 1950. She pectoec hirn in death on March 7, 19 After living in Boston, Massachusetts, Lawrence, Kansas and Birmingham Missouri, they settled in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1953. Don taught Architecture at the University of Utah for four years. In 1957, he started his own firm. He was involved in the design of many buildings and homes along the Wasatch Front, some of which included the University of Utah Hospital, the Behavioral Science Building at the University of Utah, and the lodge at the Park City Ski Resort. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife Joyce, woodworking, photography and especially playing the trombone in The Phoenix Jazz Band. Don is survived by his children, Professor Christine Panushka, Sierra Madre, CA; Dr. Cole Panushka itera, Ogden, Utah; Julie Panushka, Salt George Edward Reeves, age 70, pened west in Salt Lake City on ept. 27, 2003. He was born in Salt Lake City on October 11, 1932 to George Edward and Laura Patricia Rasmussen Reeves. He married Leah Tonge Nov. 27, 1954. George worked at McDonnell Douglas and received 3 awards for building the DC-10. He also worked for the Salt Lake City Street Dept. as an inspector until 1981 when injured on the job and retired. He is survived by his wife, Leah; his two sons George Allan and Brian Keith; brothers: Arthur (Barbara), David (Lucy), and John Reeves; sisters: Carol (Ron) (Bill) Alire; Gorlitz and Charlotte six grandchildren and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pn. Her parents were Erma Elmira Hodges and William Alexander Carroll. Virginia served an LDS mission in the Southern States with Apostles Charles A. Callis and LeGrand Richards as Mission Presidents. It was curiog. this time that the bright blue eyes of Elder Francis L. Urry caught her attention. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 11, 1936. Together they raised four children. Virginia loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. She believed in cleanliness of body, mind, spirit and home. She adored her "babies" of every generation and demonstrated her devotion to us with homemade grapejelly, "grandma's" cereal, applesauce chocolate-chip three great-grandchildren. He was born April 25, 1949 in Millford, Utah to Arthur and Madge Smith Nay. He married ValRee Sain, Aug. 31, 1996 in Jackson, Wyoming. Dwain retired as a heavy equipment operator from KCC Barney's Canyon Mine. He enjoyed the outdoors includ7 hunting, fishing, and camping. ie loved horses and was a cowboy at heart. Anne Elizabeth Mark, 84, passed away of causes incident to age, ep tember 27, 2003 at Christus St. Joseph s Villa in Salt Lake am Anne was born August 18, 1919 to John and Elena Leone in Trenton, New Jersey. During World War Il, she worked in the medical records department at Ft. Dix, NJ, where she met A.S. "Tuffy" Mark. Upon his return from the war in Europe they were married in June, 1946. After coming to Salt Lake City, her family and her involvement in the Catholic Church were her two passions. Though she and Tuffy had only one son, their devotion to him was well known, and greatly appreciated. Her grandchildren and greatprondanieraen were the light of her ife, Anne worked on many committees and on numerous projects for, her Survived by his wife, ValRee; children, Shawn (Tara) Nay, Jason (Staci) Nay, and Lisa (Mike) Farrant; stepchildren, Garrick (Lisa) Titcomb and Melissa Titcomb; sisters, coryjae Leach and Karen (Rick) alker; brother, Roger Nay; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. During World War Il Howd served as a volunteer in the Coast Guard and later in the U.S. Army. At the conclusion of the war, Howd, Mitzi and their family moved back to Utah where he began working for the Continental Baking Company. He retired in 1974. In 1965, Howd decided to go back to school. He graduated from Brigham Young University, 1971. Howd and Mitzi loved traveling and spending time at their cabin in the montains. The cabin was a favorite retreat for their family. It was a reat place for Grandma and friends and family one hour prior to services. Howd was the youngest child of Henry E. and Clarissa Blakely Parry. He grew up in the Cottonwood area of Salt Lake County and attended Granite High School where he played on the football team. On May 26, 1937 he married his Salt On September 27th, 2003 our wonderful husband, brother, son, father Ernest Albert Newell, 88, passed awoy Sept. 28, 2003, in Sandy, Utah. He was born Sept. 25, 1915 in Montour, Idaho to William Newell and Mary Skillings. Ernest married his sweetheart, Pear! Thornton, on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1940, in Gooding, idaho. Ernest is survived by his wife; doughter Edythe; three grandchildren Chelli, Sarah, and Marie; and two reat-grandchildren Carl ond Emma ose. He was preceded in death by his son Dale. She served o mission to the Central States Mission, was devoted to Genealogy and Temple work, and served diligently in her callings to her dying day. Her dedication and love of the Gospel were an example to all who knew her. Her husband says that she lived her religion every day of her life. She exemplified charity and the true love of Christ in her dealings Melba Sheen Stepan, 85, passed away September 28, 2003 at her home in Midvale. She was born September 26, 1918 in Mapleton, Utah to Ernest and Sophia Louise Law Sheen, and married Frank Stepan in Bingham Canyon, Utah on May 27, 1936. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, May 27, 1954 Melbo was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many ca pom including as president of the elief Society, Young Women, and Primary. She was a dedicated Visiting Teacher. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her home in Midvale remains the focus of her entire family Survived by children, Keith (Linda) Stepan, jJonet (Lon) Pearson, Kent (Bonnie) Stepan, Ron (LaFawn) Stepan, with everyone. Everyone she knew truly loved her and was loved in re turn.
