Show f DAIRYING THE NEW DAIRY AND FOOD LAW. The new law passed by the State Legislature just adjourned, for the regulation of manufacturers and merchants mer-chants dealing in dairy and food products, pro-ducts, and which went into effect April first', is as follows: STATE DAIRY AND l?OQD BUREAU. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Utah: Section I. There is hereby created a State Dairy and Food Bureau which shall consist of five resident citizens of the state. The state chemist, and the state dairy and food commissioner commission-er shall be members of the said board; and three members shall be appointed by the Governor of the stale on or before the first day of April, 1909, as follows: One member mem-ber of this bureau shall be a practical practi-cal manufacturer of dairy food products; pro-ducts; one member shall be a mcr-clnut mcr-clnut engaged in the sale of food 1 roducts, and one member shall be a non-producer of food products. Members of ths bureau shall hold office for the period of four years and until their successors are appointed appoint-ed and qualified; provided, that the firm members appointed .under this act shall be appointed for terms, so that their terms shall expire in one, two and three years respectively. Any vacancy shall be filled by appointment ap-pointment by the governor for the unexpired term. The members of said bureau shall serve without compensation, com-pensation, but shall receive their actual act-ual and necessary, traveling expenses, and within twenty clays after their appointment shall take the oath of office as required by the constitution; constitu-tion; and they shall thereupon meet and organize by electing a chairman, secretary and treasurer, Any one of them may be removed by the governor gov-ernor for neglect or violation of duty. They shall make report in detail to the legislature not later than the first day of December next, preceding preced-ing the meeting thereof. Sec. 2. Tt shall be the duty of the state dairy and food bureau to formulate and prescribe such rules and regulations for the operation of-creameries, of-creameries, butter and cheese factories, fact-ories, dairies, slaughters houses, confectioneries, con-fectioneries, bakeries, hotels, fruit and vegetable canneries, floiir mills, farm daries, or any other, factory, establishment, estab-lishment, store or house where dairy or food products of whatever nature arc bought, sold, manufactured or prepared, or stored or exposed for sale for public use, as shall be dccifP " ed necessary by such bureau to fully carry out the provisions of this act, and all laws now in. force or that may be enacted relate to dairy and food products, and forthc promotion ' and maintainance of the public health 1 and safety, and for prevention of false grades, weights and measures and also fort advancing the value of Utah food and dairy products.
