Show PENSIONS FOR FOB viah m VETERANS ilessie s J M 1 I NV westwood estev of spring spairl 1 ville INI L pratt of 0 pro provo 0 and J A arthur of cedar city commissioners I 1 1 of indian war records were ii ere here yesterday interviewing indian war voter veter ans getting a complete record of their services which will be forwarded to in congress for the impose of aiding in getting the measure passed which is now before congress giving the veterans pensions A graduate scale for pensioning has been adopted and is incorporated in tile the measure which will give to men or widows of veterans ca years of age 12 per month to those of 70 years 15 per month to those 75 years of age 20 per month r the measure now nov pending h ht haa T twice been passed by the senate but has never yet been introduced in tile the house for the reason that there were some objectionable features which it was feared would result in ili tile the death of the measure those clauses have been remedied and the utah delegation to congress lias has notified the commissioners of this state that it if they can furnish the records in proper shape there will be little question of the bill becoming a law A number of aged veterans have been in this city dining the week giving data relative to their experience in fighting the indians in earl early Y days and they appear very happy in the thought that the government is at last going to reward them for the service rendered already 1700 veterans have been listed and their tile records properly recorded c and the commissioners state that the number will reach at least 2000 in this state alone tile the canvass is completed the news congratulates the aged fighters on their good prospects and is heartily in accord with the movement to pension them |
