With just 23 seconds left action Clearfields 100-- team beat Centerville 13-- but the other three teams went down to defeat this week in the W.F.F.L. Coach Jess Perey noted that his team moved the ball well, but couldnt quite put it all together. The Falcons entertain Skyline High School of Idaho Falls Friday at Falcon Field. Skyline lost their big running threat of last year to graduation, but the word is out that they have a move-i- n quarterback, who has been touted as the best athlete in Idaho. Clearfield beat the Idahoans last year, but this years team is supposedly better. The Falcons will have their hands full Friday. A Plain City 27-- 6 Clearfield came up against a smooth football machine in Plain City. They thrived on smooth execution, with a fast offense and deadly passing attack. Clearfield managed only six points on a 45 yard run by Craig Carter. 100-- A The North Davis League of Women Voters through the cooperation of the Clearfield Recreation Department will sponsor a tennis tournament Sept. 9 at the Clearfield High Tennis Court. Mens beginner singles will begin promptly at 7 a.m. ; womens singles at 9 a.m.; womens advanced singles at 9:40 a.m. ; mens intermediate singles at 10:20 a.m. ; mens advanced singles at 12:20 p.m.; beginnners mixed doubles at 1:40 p.m.; and advanced mixed doubles at 2:20 p.m. The final playoffs will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. The following businesses have helped to donate prizes; Alpine Sports Center, American Handicrafts, Anthonys Baskin Robbins, Bettys Crafts, Chandlers Drug, Creative Circle (Kathy Bishop), Farr Dairy, Fran Brown and Company, J.B.s Big Boy, Jims Sport Center, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Lakeside Lanes, Pizza Hut, Shirt Arean, and Total Home Center. I purchased a pair of jogging shoes and began a running program on advise from Steve Baglow, a physical therapist who runs the Sports Medicine Clinic in Roy. He advised me to do a lot of stretching exercises, before running and to start out slowly. Jogging will keep you young, he said. I elected to run in Sandridge Park, which is just across the street from where I live and I was told to run on grass. Concrete running can be hard on the back and legs. I decided to run at night when it is cool and quiet and there would be no curious bystanders to make fun of me. Sandridge is a peaceful place at night, but not so lonely as you would in the dark of the moon. imagine.
