What 1 a Budget Out of the southwest has come this idea for a Mexican picnic. Sandwiches, known as tostadas are made from fried tortillas, stacked with a kidney beef mixture, are a variation of old favorite Sloppy Joes. Both canned and frozen tortillas can be found in many supermarkets. They become crisp, golden leaves when heated in hot oil a minute or two on each side. They travel easily to your favorite picnic site - or as close as your own back yard. Perfect with Mexican Tostadas is the refreshingly tart flavor of a lemonade drink, Fruit Fizz. Make it from Kool-Aid lemonade mix, and it will take little space in your picnic basket. You wont have to worry about carrying sugar either! But do remember to pack plenty of onion slices, shredded lettuce and tomatoes so you can build the salad right onto your Mexican sandwich. For a second portable picnic menu, try the Sloppy Joes and Blended Fruit Beverage. Like the kidney beef conmination, the Sloppy Joe mixture is easy to make; keep it hot in casserole or Dutch oven. Combine several flavors of d soft drink mix - cherry and raspberry, orange and raspberry, cherry and grape - for a thirstquenching drink on a warm spring day. bean-groun- BENTLEY, Valene Davis, Sara Seamons, Angela Schaffer, Jamie Spiers, Sharon Stone, Kristine Strebel, Shauna Telia and Jennifer Webb.
