Office Manager BE HONEST DEMOCRATS (Continued from page 1) of the majority of organized labor, so far as we can learn, and in our opinion will be the verdict of a majority of the Demo crate of Utah in the convention August 15, and of the voters on election day in November. There are several reasons why this should be true. First. Blood is a man who believes in' government ac cording to law and order. In all his acts as a public official, he has acted in accordance with such legal and traditional restrictions as well as privileges as governed the office he held He has not endeavored to set up a personal, Second. one-ma- n rule. Third. He magnifies the office he holds and not the man who holds it. He looks upon the office as bigger than the in dividual who occupies that office. Moreover, he looks upon the people who elect him to the office as bigger than the one whom the people elect to the office. He has not sought to put himself abdve the position of public service which he occupies nor has he sought to use his power for persona advantage. Fourth. As chief executive of the state, he has served his people according to his best judgment. By his keen judgment BEST WISHES TO LABOR WESTERN SALVAGE & SUPPLY CO. New and Ucd Mining and Industrial Machinery S. FRIEDMAN, Mgr. - FRIEND OF LABOR 119 West 2nd South A Wasatch 9826 and wise leadership as governor of Utah he has acquired a pres tige in the opinion of all fair minded and thinking citizens of this state. Fifth. His support of President Roosevelt is not a matter of the immediate present only. When he says he favors Roosevelt, the people can look back upon his record and see that he backs up his words with deeds. He is not trying to ren der service to democracy's great leader and at the same time throw across the President's path every obstacle possible. The records of the Governor justify us in making this statement. Sixth. The Governor deserves the support of organized labor because he has approved more labor laws passed by the legislature than any governor before him. He has always been conscious of labor's importance and of the necessity of higher wages and bettef living standards in order to make a prosperous commonwealth. He has earnestly applied himself to the work ing man's problems when they were presented to him intelli gently and honestly. Included in the legislation asked by or ganized labor and enacted into law and approved by Governor Blood are: week and minimum wage law on public works. A This law is in conformity with the program of the American Federation of Labor to speed up employment and help bolster fair wage scales. Ratification of the federal child labor amendment. Legislation regulating employment of children. The law to protect the rights of labor to organize and bargain collectively. Minimum wage law for women and legislation directed at stamping out degrading sweatshop and other conditions adversely affecting women employed in industry. Law establishing small claims court. A law to regulate and license contractors. A law prohibiting the manufacture and sale of convict made goods. law in labor disputes, limiting jurisAn diction of courts sitting in equity. 30-ho- ur anti-injuncti- POLITICAL OUTLOOK (Continued from page 1) tomey and farmer, Saturday nounced his candidacy for the congressional nomination. About three weeks ago Ray Van Cott, Sr., of Salt Lake City entered the race. Mr. Nelson said that if he is nominated and elected he will give the New Deal aggressive, active support in congress and not pas give acquiescence The supporters of the incumbent point to his voting record during the past two years. Congressman Robinson has loyally supported New Deal measures as well as measures sponsored by labor, agriculture and social welfare workers. Another thing Mr. Robinsons supporters point to is the important committees of the house of representatives of which the incumbent is a ranking member. As a ranking member of the public lands committee of the house Mr. Robinson is slated for the chairmanship of this important committee at ihe, beginning of his third rm in roneress. in the event he This is nominated and reelected. committee is vitally important to Utah and all western states. It will take years of service before a new member could reach this committee chairmanship. In fact Mr. Robinson, is the only member of congress from the intermountain states having a membership on the pubic lands committee, anc to keep him on this committee is of great value to Utah and other .
