Under its provisions the boy who has been in the Meier college for a few weeks can open a shop, and in fact the college can be run by an apprentice. It has been our experience that these boys have no knowledge of sanitation or facial diseases. The shops which they conduct are the dirtiest and the most unsanitary places in the city. They also, in violation of law, use linen on patrons that has been used on others. This they do because of the fact that they are not capable workmen and in order to survive charge a lesser price for the service and that price does not justify the use of clean linen. Almost to a man the barbers of Salt Lake are opposed to this measure unless the examination feature is incorporated. The secretary and other members of the executive board will appear before the House committee to which this matter is referred, and Inform them of our desires. S(S if The next measure of interest to the barber is the Sunday closing measure. The secretary appeared before the House ecinmittee on corporation on this measure and through his efforts barber shops, as well as other places of business, are expressly prohibited from opening or doing business on Sunday, if Senator Olson has shown himself to be a true friend of the working men.
