Show AUGUST 18, 1987 Burn Plant directors searching hard for Reinstatement denied by Davis Board of Education The Davis FARMINGTON County Board of Education has denied a request for reinstatement requested by Clark Wangsgard. Mr. Wangsgard, a career teacher with 16 years of experience, was dismissed from his position as an eighth grade typewriting-busines- s teacher at Centerville Junior High School last January after he was convicted of assaulting a student. The conviction came from a Centerville Justice of the peace court. It was overturned by Judge Alfred Van Waggonen in the 4th Circuit Court in June. The judge cited a Utah law that allows teachers to take reasonable action against unruly students. Mr. Wangsgard reported the 13 year Elsie Eichelman old student involved in the incident was vandalizing a typewriter. Mr. Wangsgard requested reinstatement when his assault conviction was overturned. On Aug. 4, the Board of Education denied the request upon the recommendation of Supt. Richard Kendell who reviewed the matter in detail with the district's legal counsel. The Board cited a history of inappropriate physical force in dealing with students and not just this one incident as their reason for refusing to reinstate Mr. Deadline For Baby dies at age 90 Elsie Minnie Eichelman, 90, of 1126 N. 3000 W., Clinton, died Monday, Aug. 10, 1987 in a local nursing home of causes incident to age. A new analysis of steam rates to Hill Air Force Base will also be made because the price of natural gas has dropped again. The price Hill Air Force Base will pay for the steam is tied to the price of natural gas. Mr. Young also told the board that the chairman, J. Dewell, had stressed that he work aggressively to give the Board some figures to compare with insurance figures from the contractor. Mr. Young is talking to one of the largest insurance brokers in the world, who he believes will offer a very competitive bid. He will also review insurance proposals from Barlow Insurance. At the same time, he is interested in looking at some of the government pools which have been formed in Utah to offset the rising costs of insurance. THE ITOBWELLli Give us a call.
