Lucy tells of how she took piano lessons as a young woman and became a good musician. After that, I taught music lessons to the neighbors for 25 cents a lesson for one hour, she tells on a video cassette. I would play for dances every Friday night. We would play until midnight and earn $2, Lucy adds. She also tells of accompanying the silent movie pictures that would come through town. Lucy was also an active member of the Bountiful LDS Second Ward. The first Sunday I was here, the conductor came over to my house and asked me to accompany the choir that very night, she said. Lucy played the piano and organ in the Bountiful Second Ward for over 30 years. At one point she organized a Sunday School Orchestra, but was later cautioned by the LDS Church President that it might not be appropriate. Lucy and her sister Vera lived across from the old Bountiful Second Ward and later saw it re- modeled into the Canterbury Hall. Vera moved out of the house when she married Leonard Day.
