And what else is crazy about southern California? Well, your front page tells about an Orange County family that keeps pet sharks in their backyard aquarium. Everyone else in the country is worried about pit bull terriers and you Californians are making cutesy comments to sharks? Well, we live by the ocean, said the bartender. You havent been reading your own newspaper. Just last week a coach became excited about his players actions on the team bus. So what does the coach do? He throws them off the bus right in the middle of the desert. But maybe the boys needed punishment, she answered. Oh we punish students, too, I said. We might make the boys listen to classical music or enroll them in an English literature class. But we dont leave kids stranded in the desert without a Visa card! I agree that some real nutty things happen in Los Angeles, said the bartender. But were at a disadvantage in this case. You are reading our newspapers which contain mostly California news. News from Utah isnt usually reported in the Los Angeles newspapers. Not true, I said proudly. Look at the front page of your ..sports section today. The main story is from Salt Lake City.
