Show VOLUME ELEVEN LAYTON, AUGUST 2i 193 Class Rooms And CAN Minutes of Meeting Hall Will Be Built Board of Education If Money is on Hand Held Monday Minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Education held Aug. 17, 1936 at the office in Farming-ton. All members present except Mr. Cook. The clerk and the superinten dent were present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Superintendent reported investigating sprinkling system at the Farmington school at an estimated cost of $351.00. The superintendent recommended it be installed. The recommendation was adopted on motion by Mr. Van Fleet seconded by Mr. Hampton carried unanimously. Mayor Stocks of Bountiful City appeared on question of purchase of additional ground for South Junior high school. He reported city and committee of board had about concluded to bring condemn tion proceedings when option on Holbrooks land was secured for 1550.00 per acre. He understand! .an option on Minor property at the same price plus remuneration for trees could be secured. City Council felt inclined not to pay extra and will join board if board settles for trees with .Minor. Mr. Stocks had impression that the board would purchase Minor proporty and city the Holbrook property. didnt feel o. Present holding is 3.4 acres and board is willing to make it op to 10 acre. Mr. Minor is asking remuneration for trees and grape vines. Members think the ground worth more without the trees. Mayor Stocks wants to cooperate in the best way. Mr. Minor asked board to make a proposition. He thinks his land worth $75.00 more per acre than the option already secured. Mr. Van Fleet is willing to give $200.00 to remove the trees. Mr. Minor asked $500.00 for trees makinr a total, pf $4,625.00. Members thought $550.00 per acre and $200.00 for improvements. Mr. Van Fleet moved we ask an option on the tract of land at $550 per acre plus $200.00 for the improvements. Motion was seconded fcy Mr. Parrish and discussed and passed unanimously.
