on permanent organization reported the name of frank H dyer as chairman of the convention john H rumel secretary and D C dunbar assistant secretary adopted mr dyer then spoke as follows 1 thank you again for this distinguished honor As you have seen fit to select me I 1 will try to do here as I 1 have done in the past my whole duty I 1 feel that now is the critical time for the democratic party in utah As you all ail know I 1 was an ardent worker in the Li liberal berall ranks but I 1 am now as I 1 always have been a democrat and here to stay applause there were some reports spread abroad this that I 1 had bad gone back but to those who circulated this and to io those who are disposed to credit it all I 1 have to say is that they do riot not know me as I 1 never take a position until after mature deliberation and once having taken a stand I 1 have never been known to waver I 1 did not t take ake this stand until I 1 was thoroughly convinced that the time had arrived when the democratic party should be organized in utah and its interests protected to the fullest extent sail and being a democrat I 1 propose to stay with it great applause I 1 think the reason the re be publicans public ans have not divided is because they fear they enough votes I 1 believe they would like to have the matter delayed until some time when they could euchre as by some trick like they played in idaho 1 there is real danger that if they win it will be the democrats of utah who will be dis franchised cheers 8 W darke addressed the convention as follows in order to make the results of this convention a we must be thoroughly organized as we are confronted by men who have the best organization in this western country he went on to elaborate his proposition but was interrupted on a
