that pertain to the best befit interests of our country we have been made ac quainter quain ted with the fact right recently that there are five gentlemen at least who take issue with us on this point 0 int have you read the late prod production n of the utah commission if you have not yu would better do it it is the stupendous creation of the age these them men were appointed for certain specific duties and whom they were called upon at various times to quiet certain local issues that have arisen they have invariably taken refuge behind their commie commission sion and refused to to act now that these issues have reached the point of possible settlement tl these gentlemen gentle meu stop step forward to plank themselves in the way ot of a most moat doth this our caesar feed that he baa grown so 0 o great voice from froin the stand a year w the credit for whatever has been done in the way of progress in utah these gentlemen claim for themselves juose w nose time is spent in sitting bitting in their offices and appointing election boards they cannot be spared apai spai bd so they say what a des desolation would indeed fall upon this great land if the august fluture of the hon godfrey were sud bud deula from our what would happen if the hon saunders no looker longer came among us to bathe in our lake but these gentlemen tell us we are insincere and their presence Is necessary for our pence peace and progress gentlemen of the conven convention tiou this territory is filled with as patriotic and liberty loving a people as exist in this country what has been done thus far was accomplished in spite of that body of officials and moreover the work will continue to roll notwithstanding the obstructions which they may place in the way applause A loud cry came from the assembly for judge judd he said lot let me tell you a few things happening in this territory not long ako ago I 1 was invite by a tew few democratic friends ot of provo to go down there and make a speech t ant and found the theatre packed with democrats I 1 was con foun tieu I 1 spoke for an hour and a half and a more enthusiastic audience I 1 never saw I 1 came back and told my democratic brethren to be up and at work for we had democracy in utah the gentlemen of the utah commission say to us we dont think that you should divide on national party lines il who are you anyway are we nt na n t american citizens who asked you to to thick anything about it these gentlemen dont think that utah is ready for statehood that I 1 is until they have fixed it in the meantime we will do a little of the fixing utah to is all right and in due time will be a state that will stand for a hundred years as a terror to that sort of patriotism applause judge henderson was called for he said I 1 COD congratulate you that we are about to organize ourselves and take our places in the only national party that exists in the united states I 1 have noticed within the last few days that our opponents in the east are inclined to shirk the issues I 1 noticed that president Harri sonin addressing a congregation from froin his bin balace palace car said eaid that we wanted an onest honest dollar 11 As if there were any body in this country who did no not t want an honest dollar rhey ahey are trying to turn the peoples attention from their own work which is taking two millions from the people and putting it into their pockets we propose to bold them to the issues which they themselves have made i PERMANENT organization the committee on permanent organization then reported as follow
