betori the visitors eyes confectionery of beautiful f al forms and fine quality in the south west corier corner of the building is an interesting collection of utah mineral specimens such as ores building stone coke coal etc which serve to indicate the mineral wealth of this region the display of show cases by G F 0 ul in er bro included a number original ind and artistic in design und and very handsome homemade home made demi decoi johns were an am interesting feature of this firms exhibit the salt lake glass works had a display of their wares which was very handsome interesting and creditable it embraced bottles in great variety fruit lars of ef different sizes 1 and uncovered demijohns demi johns holding ti from half a gallon to two gallons eal lons also a number of fancy articles such as cilles caleb ladles ladies etc sons song had a handsome of samples of the various summer drinks they same very handsome pianos and organs are included in the calder exhibit H hewlett aime same may be said of some of the pies of dried plums the name of the a exhibitors were not given e the eagle cracker factory had a very creditable display of the crackers id cakes akes etc which it produces le e several fine displays of butter are A shown but tile me name ot only one ex is given the samples oaf pure jersey butter from poplar it f farm are of magnificent color which d is entirely natural and looks ext extremely remey L t rich lech and tempting y the display of of cheese is large and very fine A number of exhibitors are e C competing but the names of none are 7 indicated two of the long ton tables in the body Ivar ilot of the hall are gidden laden with a great variety lety of fresh fruits comprising api ale peaches grapes plums plains of ivarie ps oos kinds etc the showing of peaches has bas t ably never been surpassed but the display of other kinds of fruit is no r better than has repeatedly been shown it at previous fairs while the fruit ex maibit hibit as a whole is good it might have been better as it does not adequately i indicate the resources of utah as a i fruit producing region space will not t permits permit a detailed account of displays with names of exhibitors to be given tire the vegetable display is better i many hany of the samples are enormous and i indicate care in cultivation and dertel fertility of soll soil some seme of the of potatoes are especially fine and would be difficult to excel anywhere in the world of celery and onions the same may be said the south cottonwood mills have a number of sample sacks of their products such as pearl barley hominy corn meal etc indicating rapid strides fn an the direction of the home production of such articles upon several tables are attractive displays of pot and cut flowers john reading beading florist has some exquisitely beautiful floral orna ornaments m ants salted to funeral purposes or beautifying the house bouse cramer hansen florists are competing p ting tor for the silver medal offered tor for g the e best tour eur pieces of everlasting floral ortia ornaments ments the articles cles they exhibit ate are very beautiful they are also for several other prizes 0 F due is a competitor tor for prizes offered tor for floral displays and has some very beautiful articles suited to jeneral funeral occasions one specimen of preserved flowers shown in a frame is lovely and the flowers preserve their fresh appearance in a remarkable degree G G perry has several very fine specimens of preserved flowers show ing much artistic skill in their arrangement and a well preserved state john maxwell has a fine display display of pot and cut flowers and is co competing for the prize offered for the best exhibit of cut flo flowers wars many of his specimens are very fine included in the stove display of P W madsen co are a homemade home made stove bake ovens and a sample of iron fence made at lovett sons home iron foundry buckle son merchant tailors have an excellent exhibit of sample of their stock and handiwork mr G H tribe was dispensing coffee gratis gratia made from the alaroma brand visitors at the tae fair were werd thus able to practically test the merits of this brand the star printing company display a number of samples of book and lob job printing the whole very creditable the above includes mention of all the noteworthy exhibits in the main body of the buil building din in IB many of them appear evidences of hasty preparation pa ration and there is no doubt that most ot them would have been much better had bad the exhibit exhibitors had bad a greater length of time in which to get ready there is no doubt whatever that the dis display lay of arnit would have been finer antmore and more varied had it been known earlier in the season that a fair would be held and the same may be said of other departments not that any feature of the lie fair air deserves to be spoken of giofre klingly alin gly for on the whole it to is a very satisfactory exposition it may safely be predicted however that next year will show a marked improve ment mentin in exhibits exhibit a in the above description of the fair the contents of the gallery are not referred to they will be given aliven attention tomorrow as will the live stock show which is very lar large e and fine and embraces some splendid and valuable animals the weather could not have been better and in consequence the attendance has baa been very large the buildings and grounds having been thronged thron ged ivors au an early earls hour the management assure the public that there will be no disappointment in the matter of ef lighting the building tonight and that they may come this evening with the assurance ol of being able to see the exhibits under a bril
