Show PACE 10 THE THUNDERBIRD MONDAY OCTOBER 6, 1986 Masque is active club BY DAWN DE BUSK "The Masque Club is like one big family," said Kenn Wheeler, president of the d masque club. The Masque Club entertains people during parties for Thanksgiving and has parties during the Christmas holidays, said Wheeler. "But," he continued, "We're more than a bunch of party animals." The Masque Club is a support group, lending moral support to theatre majors who participate in national competetion and seniors who try out for graduate school, said Wheeler. "The Masque Club is a student help organization. We do charitable things like collecting canned goods and food for needy students during the holidays," he said. "The Masque club gives ample opportunities to students," he said. "The plays we produce on Stage II are entirely student operated-- . Students act, direct, and produce them," said Wheeler. "Masque is one of the most active and creative groups on theatre-oriente- campus," Wheeler continued. Wheeler said that anyone who has a desire to join HOMECOMING Masque Club need not be a theatre or dance major, but have a sincere interest. "To join Masque, you contact one of the four officers: Michael Bahr, vice president; Doug Christensen, secretary; Kelly Van Hooser, treasurer; or Jennifer Rothy, historian. Then, you pay dues of $8 per quarter or $20.00 a year," he said. "Membership allows free access to Masque parties plus discounts from various Cedar City merchants. We are in the process of arranging discounts at the theatres. "We are looking forward to our Fourth Annual Theatre of Blood Spook Alley this Halloween," Wheeler said. "Usually, the group puts on a melodrama with a villian, hero, and beauty. Last year over 100 people were involved. It will be a lot of fun this year and we welcome volunteers," he said. With the production of an Agatha Christie thriller in the near future, Masque's goal would be earning enough money to cover a trip to Las Vegas or Salt Lake City for all the members to see a professional play, "It would be great to get some exposure," he said. 86 SILHOUETTES OF PROGRESS MISS SUSC SCHOLARSHIP PACK AN FEATURING -- MISS UTAH, DONNA CLARK AS MISTRESS OF CEREMONIES THURSDAY, OCT. 23, 1986 8:00 PM IN THE SUSC AUDITORIUM ENTRIES: PICK UP APPLICATIONS IN THE STUDENT CENTER ALL ENTRIES ARE DUE OCT. 9, 1986 BY 5:00 PM (NO ENTRY FEE REQUIRED) COMPETITION EVENTS: INTERVIEW, TALENT, EVENING GOWN & SWIMSUIT CONTESTANT REQUIREMENTS: MUST BE A FULL TIME (MIN. 10HRS.)
