Church, Institutional Council Chiarman Michael Leavitt, and ASSUSC President Stewart Jones. Faculty member Ron Aden will sing the school hymn. ASSUSC Public Relations Director Kirk Bowden said that he also expects the State Board of Regents and all the student bodv presidents since 1950 to be there Church said that the new student center will cost about $2 million. It will house a food service area, a new' bookstore, offices for student government, and an atrium designed to be the Living room of the campus, said Church. This is not the commecial enterprise we originally planned for, said Church He said that the planned shopping center w'ont be going in the first phase. In the second phase, there may be the commercial ventures that were originally planned, but the second phase wont begin until the funding for it is found, Church said Ju ne Church said that he dosent anticipate the problems in the student center that the Centium ran into Hopefully, thcie won't be any of the soil problems that the Centrum had, Church said Right now, the soil testing is being conducted under the direction of the buildings developer (Boyer Company of Salt Lake City) The student center should be done by the end of the school year. After the groundbreaking, items such as the scoreboards, seating, and anything of value of the college will be removed from the Fieldhouse to make way for demolition Demolition of the Fieldhouse will begin April and end May 1. The Fieldhouse was first part of a Japanese internment camp in Topaz, Millard County, during World War II The current student center will be used for conferences and the Division of Continuing Education when the new student center is finished 86-8- 7 Vice President for Student Services Sterling R. i Church says that the new student center will house an atrium, a bookstore, food service facilities and ASSUSC offices.
