Golfers finish fourth in district meet The SUSC golf season ended in disappointment last week as Thunderbird linksters finished in an unexpected fourth place. The team finished only four strokes behind Grand Canyon College, who finished in first place in the NAIA District Seven tournament. first round. Throughout the first five holes, possibly because of the heat Kris Abegglen was hampered with a nosebleed. I think it made a difference, said Kingsford. The match was a total of many disturbing things, he added. According to Kingsford the team had a chance to come back on the last day of competition, but couldnt score well enough in the four and five spots. The order of finishes were Grand Canyon College with a 907 team strokes in the 54 hole tournament, followed by Eastern New Mexico with 908. Western State shot 909, SUSC 911, and Western New Mexico finished at 931. We made a few mistakes at a time when we couldnt afford them, said Coach Tom Kingsford. After the first round of play, SUSC found themselves seven strokes out of first place. However, the team did manage to shoot a second round low of 294.
