Show Tfie Thunderhird Seats still available in Centrum Groundbreaking ceremonies for the Centrum have been scheduled for March 10 in conjunction with Founders Day activities. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. with Dale Zabriskie conducting and with Kem Gardner as the featured guest speaker. Remarks will also be made by President Gerald R. Sherratt, Represenative Haze Hunter and Senator Ivan Matheson. There will be a musical number by the SUSC Symphonic Band under the direction of Dennis Bacon after which the groundbreaking will take palce. Following the groundbreaking a birthday cake in honor of the ocassion will be served to all of those who attend the ceremony, said Vice President of College Relations Michael D. Richards. The buildings perimiters will be outlined so attendants can gain some perspective of the structure. Students are cordially invited to attend this most significant and special ocassion, said Richards. By combining the special events center and classroom facilities, a savings of $700,000 will be recognized. Earlier he was a faculty member at Utah State University and Swarthmore College and a visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. A graduate of the University of Utah, Dr. Durham received his doctorate in political science at UCLA. Among the many awards he has received are the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal from the U.S. Army, the Distinguished Service Award form the U of U, the A.O. Smoot Public Sevice Award from Brigham Young University, and honorary degrees from BYU, Indiana State University, ASU and SUSC. Homer Durham will deliver the Founders Day address March 10. Durham will speak at the annual Founders Day banquet beginning at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall.
