Show 1984 Page 12 Tfie Thunderfrird Monday, January 9, Coming up TV classes to begin A new series of telecourses classes taught over KUED, channel 7 will begin Jan. 14. Topics include: Marine Environment, Business of Management, Introduction to Computers, New Literacy, America the Second Century, Understanding Space and Time, and Understanding Human Behavior. Registration for the winter semester telecourses approved for SUSC credit can be completed by mail by contacting the SUSC Division of Continuing Education, Cedar City, Utah 84720, or by telephoning 586-785- Recital scheduled Winter quarter musical programs begin Jan. 16 with a faculty recital featuring works of Bach, Bizet and Goedicke. The program, which will begin at 8 p.m., will feature Bachs Concerto for Oboe and Violin to be performed by Virginia Stitt, Sara Penny, Jan Harrison and Michele MacKay. Stitt will also perform the Premiere Solo by Bourdeaux for bassoon and piano with Hal Campbell. Another bassoon piece will be Bachs Adagio, Toccata and Fugue with Cheery Dalton as the organist. From the romantic operas, JLene Hansen will sing arias from La Boheme and Carmen. Dennis Bacon will perform a Concert Etude by Alexander Goedicke for trumpet. David Nyman, MacKay and Penny will join forces for a string trio by Schubert. The Stamitz Duet No. 2 for violin and cello is also on the program. Musical events continue this quarter with a small ensembles concert, the opera Marriage of Figaro and concerts by both instrumental and vocal Cap, gown rentals set The SUSC Alumni Association is purchasing caps and gowns for rental to graduates for the first time in 1984. Those who will be graduating with associate or baccalaureate degrees are asked to contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 7777 or 7778 to provide sizing information. The rental fee is $10 and a March 1 deadline has been imposed for the initial purchase. Faculty members who wish to rent or buy caps and gowns are urged to contact the office as well. |
