An estimated 300400 students who are registered for 10 or more credit hours have not yet obtained their identification cards. Truman awards up SUSC sophomores interested in a career in government service at federal, state, or local levels can apply for a 1984 Harry S. Truman Scholarship. The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation operates a continuing educational scholarship program designed to provide opportunities for outstanding students with potential leadership ability to prepare for careers in government service. The deadline for applications is December 1, 1983. To be eligible, students must be fulltime sophomores working toward or planning to pursue a baccalaureate program, have a B average or equivalent, stand in the upper fourth of the class and be a U.S. citizen or national heading toward a career in government. Interested students should submit a letter of application, a statement of career plans, a list of past public service activities or other leadership positions, a current transcript and a essay discussing a public policy issue of their choice to Rodney D. The earliest yearbooks date back to 1920, according to circulations librarian Linda Ahlstrom. They are on display in the library foyer and will be sold on a e basis for $2.50 each. first-com- |
