Show Page 4 The Thunderbird Monday, September 26, 1983 Opim&n New colors are nice, but in the summer? Fall is nearing again and nature is beginning its magical metamorphosis. The changes in color are never more prevalent and beautiful than in the mountains, where the trees begin their colorful change from green to gold and brown. This fall the trees are not alone in undergoing a color transition. Southern Utah State College is experiencing one itself. The new colors of scarlet, royal blue and white are Columbia blue and orange. replacing a washed-ou- t Like the colors of the leaves on a crisp autumn day, The T hundcrbird hopes our new colors will add distinction and further enhance the character of the college. Students returning to SUSC find themselves in the same situation as the autumn leaves. The metamorphosis has taken place the decision to change the colors has been made. Most certainly, school colors are not all- - important for a college. But an issue imbedded in tradition, such as a change in school colors, deserves open and thorough consideration of all involved, such as the student body as a whole. It is our understanding that a committee was established to represent a broad range of college interests in the discussion and investigation. Indeed, the administration, faculty, staff, student government and other college entities were represented on the committee. However, The, Thunderbird wonders why the action to change the colors took place during the summer. Although an effort was made to see that the affected groups were represented, we were disappointed to see the action take place while the majority of students could not be heard.
