pell peli r ills his head the tile dispatch stated is nearly blown to pieces ab about dt thirty feet from the body a i gun was found hv by means of which it is supposed mr pidcock met his death by whose bands hands however the horrid deed was done is as yet involved in PROFOUND ilys MYSTERY TERY I 1 mr telegraphed to jede acde diah Pi pidcock deock brother of the youn young man at eagle rock and he at once bouc e started for montpelier to fetch home the body at a late hour tonight to night the remains had not arrived but they are anxiously looked for the friends and will probably be here friday it is needless to say the family are bf by the receipt of this terrible news plunged into the DEEPEST DISTRESS they have the full sympathy of the people of this community joseph pidcock was born and raised in ogden ile he was waa in the twenty third year of his age ile he was in the employ empio of the oregon short line Rail rall railroad toad company compans and for a few months past has been clerk in their store at montpelier the last intelligence received irom from him while alive was on the ad lust in two lettel letters which he wrote to two of his sisters in this place ile he was then in good health and cheerful spirits and his letters breathed a spirit of kindness and affect affection on and contained words of good 0 0 d counsel and hope of seeing his fr friends 1 ends 2 the pressure ot the business depression which has prevailed in ogden for some months past hence they presented a petition to the city council asking that body to give them a rebate in the rates for lequoi license forthe for ithe three months next ensuing commencing on april 1885 1883 the reduction asked was fifty per cent which would reduce the rum sellers license from per quarter to t per quarter it vill will be observed however that the favor was asked for three months only and at the expiration of that time the amount be ag again a in raised to what it now is s at the last regular session of the council the city attorney was instructed ted to FRAME AN ORDINANCE to enable ahe he city fathers to accede to the wishes of the petitioners petition ers ordinance was framed and presented last evening at a special meeting of council after the instrument read A remonstrance signed 0 by citizens of all shades P politics politics and religion rell gion was read the petitioners petition ers prot protested esteil against the reduction and asked the council to let license fees remain as they were or to raise raibe them to three hundred dollars per quarter this was a damper and licenses after one hours discussion and deliberation the vote was called and the City Fathers REJECTED THE ORDINANCE and the liquor dealers license remains in statu quo at dif fifteen teen minutes
