Vine Street Productions, whichNis presenting the revival of The Girl From Utah, has Hollywcod, Las Vegas and Utah headquarters. Ron Daum, a native of Utah and graduate of the University of Utah, is musical director. Richard Erdman, known for his many television, stage and movie roles, is a director for the organization and director of The Girl From Utah. The Girl From Utah is the fiist of several productions planned by Vine Street Productions. It has been updated a few years from the original so there will be more dancing and additional musical numbers. Favorites, such as They Didnt Believe Me, by Jerome Kern, will be kept in the revival. The cast include i such Utah favorites as H. E. D. Redford, Mary Jane Palm, Dana Swenson, John Buffington, Jena Ve Soeffker, Joe Lambie, Gene Pack and a .horus of 10. The musical will be presented nightly at 8:30 Tuesdays through Saturdays for at least a month. Mr. Daum reports much of the first month has been sold out with theater parties taking over some evenings. Tickets are obtainable at the box office. Go-Arou- Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, one of the most popular pictures of last season, has been returned and is now showing at the Rialto Theater, IN the Walt animated-musica- Could Add Oscar To Tony James Earl Jones, who has been nominated best actor for his poitrayal of onetime heavyweight champion Jack Johnson, could ad I an Oscar to a Tony. Oscar would be for his film version of The Great White next which opens Hope, week at the South East Theater in Sugar House. (This represents a change from the Uptown). Tony was for his acting in the same role of the production on Broadway. His selection tor the film is nnusual in that a name star generally is chosen for the movie version of a successful stage production. Jones and a costar, Jane were nominated Alexander, best actor and best actress, respectively. She alsp received a Tony for her acting in the stage production. Both she and Jones are well known ber of years to escape for their Broadway performances. Jones, if he is selected best actor when the awards are anncunced April 15, would be the second black man to win the top acting Oscar. Sidney Poitier won tir Academy Award as best actor for Lilies of the Field. He also was nominated for the Oscar one other time. The Great White Hope refers to t1 search for a white man to beat Johnson, who had taken the heavyweight crown from Tommy Burns in Australia in 1908.
