Show A WILLARD mm ORCHARD we had the pleasure last thursday of visiting the orchard of mr edwin P cordon of willard tills this orchard is situated abou a mile south of willard proper on the county road we dont know how flow much there Is of it but we do know and A t exi y cee prosperous looking mr air cordon Is picking elberta peaches for the state fair and expects to carry off first prize ile he has always done it at previous fairs and he see why ills his luck should change now when the fruit Is better than ever ile he showed us some beauties they were so big that they look like peaches they were though and wo we hope lie brings back the ribbon the peculiar thing about this or chard is that it has never been it ir ligaleg need it and the soil is just light all the time neither too wet nor too dry on some loung peach trees that mv mr coition coddon showed us its were five and six feet growth made this year he has to constantly trini trim back to keep the trees aiom growing out of all bounds mr cordons cordona Cor dons land is fertile enough that lie he grows something on nearly every foot of it melons and grapes and tomatoes etc of unusual size and quality being produced we brought home some excellent samples of peaches pears apples grapes and melons as souvenirs |
