Show n Peg® 2 June 23 1975 QZOT2OT£K3 BY PfPL TKyee ONDfcE "O': V5' fiiiriiii vHwwvwav a- n'pl i onX-iiii£- 7 4Kjtnt4 i - fei j V wsjsti V- 11 j j JSSStv" 'Arsenic' to open 8th Lyric season The classic comedy “Arsenic & Lace” the story of two eccentric and charming old ladies and the antics of their brother who thinks he is Teddy Roosefelt plus the questionable activites of still another brother opens the Old Lyric Repertory Company season this Thursday Beginning its ninth summer the OLRC is comprised of Old threatre arts students from across the United States Combining their performing skills as well as designing and technical abilites members of the company present four productions playing in repertory from June 26 through August 23 at the Lyric STUDENT PRODUCTIONS Student Productions is looking for musicians to form several groups this summer including a 25 piece orchestra to accompany the Calico Dancers and a six piece rock band Any interested individuals should contact Richard Watkins on the 3rd floor I a i a a a a a a a Theatre in downtown Logan Originally the Lyric Theatre opened in the fall of 1913 and ran successfully for some years The stage fare included dramas comedies vaudeville and the best of silent films Forty-seve- n and a half years later in the spring of 1961 a as part restored Lyric of Utah State Theatre In the summer of 1967 the Old Lyric Repertory Company presented its first season of summer entertainment for Cache Valley residents and visitors The four shows to be produced by the OLRC this season will be: “Arsenic & Old Lace” “Dames at Sea” “Finishing Touches” and “The Tavern” SCAR STUDENT Psychologist to speak on disturbed children Bettelheim one of the nation’s eminent child psychologists will speak today at 2:30 pm in the Business Building auditorium Dr Bettelheim will discuss the role of schools communities and parents in creating disturbed children Earlier in the day at 1 1 r30 am the child psychologist will be in Quality Parenting Television keynote speaker for the “Up-Dat- e Conference” to be aired on KUED Television Dr Bettelheim pioneered the application of psychoanalysis in the treatment of children with severe emotional problems He is the author of several books including “Love is Not Enough” “Truants From Life” “The Empty Fortress” “The Informed Heart” “Symbolic Wounds” and his latest “A Home for the Heart” Born in Vienna Austria in 1903 Dr Bettelheim received his Ph-in psychology and philosophy from the University of Vienna and studied under Sigmund Frued He came to America in 1939 and has been associated since then with the University of Chicago The meeting is open to the public and admission is free Bruno D COALITION AGAINST RACISM — meets Wednesday evening at 7:00 in Room 33 University Center Defend Joan Little!
