Borrowman: I would like to see more student input into the athletic program the recreation program and the intramural and extramural programs I think we Student n can accomplish this through three ways the athletic board -- 1 Uftti t Mark Shramek (b ' by Tn CIH) supports redistribution of funds in support of intramurals and extramurals ' by Jody Burnett entertainment editor Candidates for the office of Athletic and Intramural Vice i the athletic scheduling board and the HPER Policy Board Shramek: I think the major thing we should do is get more funding into the athletic program as a whole We need to get more money to our extramural sports such as the girls basketball team which did an excellent job this year That type of thing needs to be given a little more money so they can go a little farther I would like to see our extramural sports brought into the intercollegiate level and I think we could expand our intercollegiate sports SL - What do you perceive as your role as Athletics VP in athletic scheduling? Shramek: It’s kind of a rough question to answer because football is tentatively scheduled until about 1982 and both football and basketball are definitely scheduled for the next two year If I was to do anything about it it would not become effective or show any effect for at least two to three years Borrowman: There has been a committee in existence for over a year comprised of students and faculty to schedule athletic events but it’s been pretty well 'defunct Just recently has it received the power to make any decisions and the athletic VP’s office is the one that has the power they have as much power as anybody in scheduling and thats where the decisions are going to ahve to be made SL- - How would you attempt to expand both mens and womens intramural and extramural programs? The main Borrowman: with mens and womens problem programs is funding scheduling and involvement Naturally more money has to be put into these programs I think one way we could do this particularly with womens extramurals is by scheduling them in a different place perhaps even in the old fieldhouse where they could draw a crowd and charge admission For involvement we would have to depend on the dorms fraternities and groups on campus and make intramurals more available and easier to get into Shramek: I’m running with the campus coalition and one of our major points is the redistribution of funds I firmly believe the Athletic Vice President runs a very limited budget and if we had more funds we could initiate more intramural and especially more extramural programs in different sports e’re fairly limited right now Tffiht number of sports you can get into I think if we could get the money we would get the participation and could expand in f direction that (Pbats by Yany CMh) Darrell Borrowman would like to see more stu- dent input in to the athletic program FRANCE GERMANY SPAIN to study in and France than Spain nobody's been smart Germany enough to put names on them Backed by matchless traditions of learning as well as by some of the most breathtakingly different scenery in the world this trio of countries is Europe's heart in more ways than one The University of Utah is sending travel study programs as well as hit to all three this summer! Jensen: I think the Financial has four main but set by the constitution goals To supervise the expenditures of ASUSU to work over the budget with the rest of the Executive Council to be in charge of ASUSU properties and to head a Financial Board This year they have not had an inventory and Steve Theurer is attempting to start one but it’s something that needs to be done every year I would institute the inventory so it would be easier for my successors to do it Also the Financial Board has not been functioning and I would try to set that up to give good advice to the rest of the SL What method of allocation would you advise to insure proper sue of funds? Jensen: When I was thinking about the financial Board this is what I would recommend that Vice-Preside- 3r - 'i4 nt Financial Board would do is review the expenditures of these groups and make sure they are using them wisely and make to the recommendations Executive Council about raising or lowering their budgets Meeting held to elect new by Tany CoIKt) Doug Jensen candidate for Financial VP AZ officers RlUG UP D The local chapter of Alpha Zeta held its annual meeting to elect officers on April 10 at 7:00 pm D Chancellor scholastic school year are: Chancellor-CalviCensor-L- Scribe-Ralp- Willhite n wrence a Cunningham Whitesides h Platt Chronicler-Bren- t Wisniewski and Arms-Mar- v at Sargent Hodges The chapters’ service project for the coming year is a graduate student index which will list the graduates of the colleges of Treasurer-Gen- e Agriculture Resources 0 and Natural J &f Box 200 Lfjke Phone: (801) W J JQ 581-808- 7 u Bus Finance Major Thomas Schmidt resided over the meeting and the election The new officers for the 1973-7- 4 0 P pte 6 Recreation STAB Will work for student input in Government E tl S it E Financial VP o O committee chairman J T V D T Will fulfill A E responsibilities of Y tl FINANCIAL VP J r-- PROVEN PERF0RI1ANCE PNOTZrlAN t ! $ v§ ? t: vi £'l v$ Goals Improved Placement Center Revised Teacher Evaluation system applied consistently Equitable distribution of scholarships Implementation of a new advising system Academic Senate Member HASS College Council Chairman — Hard worker (Placement Center study Communications Table teacher quota test case etc — He knows the issues — He can cut bureaucratic red — — Dynamic representative college councils tape ri ?a 3- ©EMOT PQWSGAC1 1x1 !
