Summer Special Classes Thursday DR VICKERS Dr Wallace J Vickers chairman of the English Department U S A C will present the regular eleven o’clock lecture in the auditorium Wednesday July 7 His subject will be the “Literary and Philosophic Problems of the Book of Esther” May DuBois Associate ProHome Economics Education State College is teaching two for the USAC home economics department Miss DuBois is a curriculum specialist and has a national reputation in the field of evaluation in home economics Graduate students and homemaking teachers are discussing problems with Miss DuBois in a special studies class Individual problems are considered in a class entitled Curriculum Problems in Home Economics The enrollment for these classes is excellent Teachers The courses are given each Coast Educator Twenty Business teachers attending Summer Session held a dinner meeting at the Bluebird Cafe Thursday evening and heard Professor Georgia C Amsden of San Diego State College deliver an address on “How to teach Shorthand and Transcription” Discussing methods and devices Professor Amsden said "regardless of the method used a teacher to be truly effective needs to have preparation personality and punch” Following the lecture the teachers pardiscussion ticipated in a round-tabl- e of the latest developments in the field of Business Education Arrangements for the program were made by Professors L Mark Neubergcr and Ina Doty of the U S A C Department of Business the Graduation Notice Many students will complete requirements for graduation at the end of the first or second sessions All who have been approved by the faculty will be given an official statement by the institution indicating that they have completed their work They will receive diplomas in the spring Students should check immediately with their major professors to assure that the department has brought the case to the attention of the dean for presentation to the faculty The entire faculty of the School of Forestry is engaged this summer in Forteaching a group of ninety-fiv- e estry students who are spending the full eleven weeks at Tony Grove Camp twenty miles up Logan Canyon Regular course work is offered in the field in all branches of forest and range management and in wild life The program is designed to open up the practical field of forestry work and teach fundamentals in the field before the student enters the professional courses Second Session Notice Students who wish to attend the second session of the summer school and who are unable to find an adequate course selection should see their major professors and indicate their needs This should be done during this week so that the necessary arrangements can be made Every reasonable effort will be made to provide desired courses and in most cases the courses will be supplied Second session classes will begin on Monday July 19 as scheduled Students may register anytime during the first few days of the session a general session in the auditorium Professor C D McBride will preside President Franklin S Harris will welcome those in attendance and S W Neville will speak on the topic "Occupational Trends” At 10:00 a m section meetings will be held Section I held in the Little Theater will discuss "Sources of Occupational Information” with Mr Russell Borchert acting as discussion leader Mr James Jordan will lead Section II in the Engineering Auditorium in the topic “Occupational Information and Counseling” Dr Adam S Bennion will present the lecture in the Main Auditorium at 11:00 a m on the subject "Utah’s Industrial Future” Dean J E Christiansen will preside Mr Dan Edwards of the Utah Industrial Commission will speak on “What the Guidance Teacher Needs to Know About Labor Unions” at a 12 o’clock luncheon meeting in the cafeteria Another general session will meet in the Main Auditorium at 2:00 p m Mr B L Flanagan will discuss "Serto the Guidance vices Available Worker” and Mr A L Derbyshire will speak on the subject “Uses Being Made of Occupational Studies Being carried on by Utah Department of Employment Security” Professor Stetson To Address Faculty Professor F L Stetson of the University of Oregon will discuss the history purpose and present the program of the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools at a meeting of the faculty Tuesday July 13 at 8:00 pm Professor
