The U.S. believes in freedom. If we are asked to help, then we should help. We dont believe as the Communists and, therefore, we cannot withdraw from our stand for freedom. I believe that the U.S., representing free nations of the world and as a symbol of democracy, should continue to fight Communism at all fronts, and to completely defeat the Communist purpose. My job is to uphold any policies made by the government. If they arent to my liking I will have to submit to them and take into consideration the fact that they will in the long run help the cause of mans freedom. The Collegiate Believer Pierson Parson Feature Editor by Marilyn Envy the collegiate who still believes in Santa Claus, for he shall be given the earth. He it is who achieves the betterment of the Christmas spirit. (And not only from eggnog.) He it is who realizes the Saint comes only to the good. He it is who is jovial and glad-beari- ng while others are merely biding time until the tests are over and they can go home to sleep. He it is who sits himself upon Santas knee amid the smirks of parents, and optimistically lists his wants. (And there is no one so frightful to disappoint because he it is who is three times larger than most of the believers!) The collegiate believer is the one who writes his Biology lecture notes in red and green. He is the one who sincerely believes that he will do his research paper over the holidays. He is also the one who didnt do his Christmas shopping in July to avoid the crowds. He has the faith that the star of the East is stHl there despite the fog. He doesnt mind that mistletoe is a parasite. He believes that the basement door to Converse will open for the new year. He doesnt give practical gifts. He is the instigator of a project. He values a red nose. (Take that any way you like!) He can be spotted as a sniffer of pine trees in the foyer. He cleans out fireplaces. He whistles carols. And he is the one who wakes up his little brothers and sisters at four oclock on Christmas morning so they can all go look at their stockings from Mr. Nicholas. They humor him because they know. And so does he. Sub-for-Sa- nta |
