With finals over and books shelved for the summer many students will find they want to relax. How about relaxing in Europe? This summer Mr. Hofer is hoping to start a program for the students of this college which will enable them to continue their education in the summer. The program is an extension school that will offer 15 credit hours in Europe. The summer school is not all academic work. There will be time for g, and just plain enjoyment. Some students are planning on going to Europe anyway and here is a chance to gain credit toward graduation while under European influence. If Westminster is going to meet the challenge and demands of education in the future it must have a program that can compete with any school in the country because especially this state students and parents are going to be looking for the best buy when it comes to spending their educational dollars. Regardless of the outcome of this program, the main point is that we have a man on campus who is trying to upgrade Westminster College, by offering a flight school and European summer school. Westminster education can through a combined effort of faculty and administration meet the challenge of future college students. However, it should be noted that Dr. Logan Wilson, president of American Council on Education said (in the Deseret News, March 9 edition), Colleges cant substitute for families, neighborhoods and churches in reconstructing society morally and aesthetically while leading it intellectually. kim gregory sight-seein- |
