A representative was Service World University also on the panel. He pointed out the question of how a student who had to have moral restrictions imposed upon him could be expected to be a sufficient Peace Corps Volunteer. The question was based around the current Hogle Hall morality edict. The reason for the question being asked in the first place may be found in the following concept: The Administrators of this college have been making a grave mistake by not helping the students to assume the responsibilities of self-governme- nt that they have been In fact, the Administration has been so foolhardy as to let student government get so out of date, by their grip on student government, that a communiasking for so long. cation problem of considerable magnitude has been created on campus. ' Kellys Korner is The object of modern art, not beauty but life. That sentence, written by the masterful Victor Hugo became the basic text of the Romantic Movement. Today the poet, who war, spoke trenchantly of politics, government and diplomacy is remembered as the author of Lcs Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He is also remembered as the impassioned patriot who hated Napoleon and castigated Napoleon III. Victor Hugos early life was j a sad one, full of experiences which were later used in his writings. As a young boy he traveled to Spain. There, misfortune came upon the famand ily destitute. ( they were left . Hugos education and training were cut off. But he was a great reader of books, especially the classic literature of France and the new Romantic style that was coming into vogue, Hugo began writ-mg- , and his great talent was revealed early. Young Victor Hugo showed himself, in his teens, as I a juvenile prodigy. His ambition was set. He knew what he wanted and how to get it. After the fall of Napoleon, Louis XVIII was on the throne. At the age of twenty Victor Hugo published his first volumes of poems, which were strongly loyalist. During this time he was married and shortly after his marriage he made a violent break with the court. Victor Hugo despised the towdry pretentions of the new kind, Charles IX and said so in print. The new Romantic Age of Literature was in full blossom and for Hugo it was a period of glory. His drama Cromwas published, which well called for dramatic forms and trumpeted the way for the freer expressions of Romanticism. His first vastly novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, was published. suc-cesf- 7 a.m. fo 4:30 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. "Nothing Inferior for Your Interior" Breakfast - Lunch Snacks V perchance never to wake ay, there's the rub; When we have deadened that malevolent alarm. Gripers Anonymous There is one very definite problem on this campus which is becoming more and more serious as finals are approaching. There is no suitable place on campus for a group of people to go who wish to study together. All the classrooms are locked, Marimon Lounge has been used but Is really too noisy, and the library does not exactly lend itself to group discussion. Admittedly, during library hours permission can be obtained to use but when the licannot be closed is brary used. There are many reasons why the classrooms have had to be closed to student use, but I would like to propose that some of the rooms be left open in Ferry Hall for at least the week before final examinations for the benefit of those who would like to get together for group study. Year: Junior Major: Elementary Education I believe the new birth control pill is a very good thing. With a relatively small amount of money, young couples could purchase the pills and use them until they were financially prepared to raise a family. My only objection to this pill is that it could easily be used in the wrong way by unmarried couples and therefore feel Major: Spanish As far as Im concerned Id rather have babies than to take pills to prevent them. If some feel that overpopulation is a disease which must not be allowed to infest the world, then perhaps the modern-dadruggist can help them. However, I cannot understand how man can morally accept physical satisfaction as the primary end of sex, disregarding for what purpose that pleasure was intended. Substituting the term "means and end with act and "consequence is, to me, a sickness which will take more than pills to cure. y SCHOOL SUPPLIES and GROCERIES HARWOOD'S Open to 1 1 pm. 2053 So. 13th East MONEY VERSUS EUROPE Tm eu. iffrd . a a mum travolnc tbo abroad KSA-w- Through the 1840s Hugo was active in politics.
