Kearns took tenth place sweep-stake- s with 57 points. .Cottonwood High took first. Kearns A BISHOP LLOYD V. VIALL (center) with counselors Gary Lee Scothern, left, and Samuel Edwin Job, right, have been chosen to lead the Kearns Nineteenth Ward. One Act Play readings were done by Eva Elkins and John Dutt. Both received excellents. Dramatic readings were done by Dan Stone, Jana Jacobson, - KEARNS Lloyd Viall has been sustained as Bishop of the Kearns Nineteenth Ward. He replaces Bishop Wayne McDonald who with his two counselors, William Callahan and Bruce Snyder, was recently released. Called as counselors to Bishop Viall are Gary Lee Scothern and Samuel Edwin Job. Bishop Viall and his wife Helen were among the first to purchase 100 families homes in Kearns. They moved into their first home in Kearns between Christmas and New Years Eve of 1949. Nine years ago they bought their second Kearns heme in the Western Hills area. Bishop Viall was born in Loveland, Colorado. After in school completing Colorado he joined the Navy. While serving with the Navy he met and married Helen, who was a Marine at the time. They are the parents of eight children. Their first four children, all boys; Frank, Delbert, E.J., and David, are all growm and married. They have given the Vialls 11 grandchildren. The Vialls next four children are girls: Anna Doris, serving a mission in Louisiana; JoAnn, who works at the Church Office Building; Nancy, a senior at Kearns High School; and Melinda, who is in the seventh Haskan, grade. an Stella Indian placement student, is also part of the Viall family. The new Bishop has taken an active part in community and political affairs and has worked actively for the betterment of Kearns. He is employed by Tisco Insulation Co. Before being called as Bishop, Viall served on the Kearns Stake High Council. He has also been Mutual president, Sunday School Superintendent and High Priest Group Leader. First Counselor Scothern and his wife Evelyn live at 5229 W. 5200 South. They are the parents of three children. Before receiving this new call he served as Seventys Group Leader. Samuel Edwin Job was the ward executive secretary before being called as second counselor to Bishop Viall. He and his wife Sylvia Ruth live at 5360 South 5243 W'est with their two children. and . Also in scenes from plays, Soma Henry and Terie Stapley took a good rating. and Laina Smith, Susan Smith and Mike Goodell, with a group mime. Bob received a Ochoa, Mono-Act- , took a superior rating. The cast of Bridal Night included Russ Cuff, Sherri Johnston, and Gina Hiatt. It was directed by Donna McCarrey. Russ an Cuff was awarded Honorable Mention for his acting ability. Retold story tellers were Chris Carlson and Kathy Petty, who both received excellent ratings.
