Also rroken'ribs and a punctured left lung, resulting after being involved in car theft and a fast chase. About 2 a.m. the morning of April 14, a Murray man contacted the County Sheriffs office stating that he had witnessed the theft of an auto from 466 Germania, in Murray, and had also obtained the license number of the car as it drove away. Officers were allterted to watch for this car. . St. Francis Men Build Addition To Parish Hall The men of St. Francis Catholic Church have started work on an addition to the Parish Hall. It will house a garage for the school bus, storage space and additional room for the catechism class. Baseball practice for the CYO Juniors will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5 p.m., in the field by the Parish Hall. Father Arnold Reuter, chaplain at Hill Field was the guest speaker at the Xavier Club meeting last Sunday evening. He presented an illustrated talk on the Far East. County Sheriff Donald Fox first spotted the boy at about 4420 So. He chased the boy in. the car at speeds up to 70 and 80 miles an hour, until the boys car hit a ditch throwing it out of control, sheering off a utility pole and hitting a gas house at 4715 So. 4420 W. in Kearns. The demolished car was a 57 Ford, four door hard top which had been stolen from 4680 W. 5135 So. Another 57 Ford was stolen also by a 14 year old boy at about the same time from 4511 W. 5570 So. The two boys had been racing each other. The first auto was a pick-u- p truck which was returned before the theft of the latter two cars. The boys will be charged on three counts of auto theft. Arthur Jackson, 39, Assistant Umpire in Chief this year for the Kearns National Little League, is employed at Tim B. Paulsen Co. Construction. Played baseball in the service. Community baseball in home town areas, second year with Little League. Umpire last year. Dave Quamberg, 29, is an employe of the Cudahay Packing Co. He has been with the Little League as an umpire ever since it started in Kearns three years ago. He also played ball all through school. He has one boy trying out for the Little League this year. Bob Huntington, is an employe of a Realty Co. This will be his third year with the Little League as an umpire. Last year he helped build bleachers for the games. He likes working with boys and hopes to continue doing so. One of his boys is in the Little League and he has one that will soon be old enough to join. He is also a member of the Utah State Umpire Association. Bill Oliver, 27, is an employe of the U.S. Government at Fort Douglas. This is his second year as umpire with the League. He is a member of the Utah State Umpire Association, too. He has played professional baseball in the Pioneer League at Idaho Falls and was in the Pacific Coast League at San Diego. He has also managed an American Legion team which went to Chicago for the National Tournament. Floyd Minster, who is a construction worker is now in his second year with the Little League. He coached an eight year old group last year. He also played on a League team when a boy, and has one boy nine who will probably go into Little League baseball also. Oliver Venz, 39, is an employe of the Lang Co. He has had base- ball experience by playing on the church baseball team and with the baseball team at Lang Co. He also played baseball while in the service. This is his first year with the Kearns National Little League. Howard F. Ellis, 28, is employed by the government in the Post Office Dept, as a mail carrier. He is a former Am. Legion baseball player at Carbon County. Also playing semi-pr- o in the Coal League in Carbon County. He kept in practice also while under the employe of Uncle Sam, in the armed forces. PTA Asks Support Of all Parents The West Kearns PTA wish to invite the people of Kearns who live on the west side of Kearns and those who will have children attending the West Kearns School next year, to attend their next meeting to be held Monday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the West Kearns School. They have a program outlined that should be both informative and 'enjoyable for the public. Mr. Burbidge will show a film on Civil Defense and Dr. Burton Brasher will talk on the coming School Bond election. The fifth grade students will provide a musical program for the public. They will also hold elections for next years officers of the PTA. The following is a list of persons running for office: President: Mrs. LaVee Lambson, Mrs. Susan Shreve, Mrs. Reha Slick, Mrs. Loise Westenskow, and Mrs. Yvonne Bowers. 1st Vice President contenders are: Mrs. Alta Carrington, Ms. Betty Fawson, Mrs. JoAnn Bruse. Those runing for secretary are: Mrs. Ruth Fern, Marion Madsen and Mrs. Rhoda Clarkson. Contenders for the office of treasurer are: Mr. Fredrick (Ed) Nichols, Dr. Ray L.
