There could be better ways to begin this semester than sitting around like the bored vulture characters Dizzy, Junior and Flaps, from Walt Disneys classic movie The Jungle Book. Its summer for a few more weeks and plenty to do, inside or out. Hikers can ascend Mt. Timpanogos 12.4 mile trail any day to reach its summit of 11,750 ft. A round trip can take several hours from the Timpanokee trail head located up American Fork Canyon. But if you want similar views of the Wasatch Mountains and dont want to hike several hours you may want to hop on the tram at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort for $12. The trip from the Westminster campus to Snowbird is about 20 miles and 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Snowbirds tram reaches the elevation of 11,000 ft. The resort has multiple summer attractions. Details about these activities as well as the tram ride can be found at www.snowbird.com. On the way to Snowbird is the Porcupine Pub and Grille, located at 3698 East Fort Union Blvd. Server Ryan Terwilliger has worked at Porcupine since last summer. He said the question of his favorite menu item is tough. I love most of the food, but usually when Im having a hard time deciding Ill get the fish tacos or veggie stir fry Szechwan style, but I guess my favorite would have to be the chicken noodle soup. Tuesdays at Porcupine are referred to as two-doll- ar Tuesdays. All 24 beers on tap are $2 except fpr Guinness, which is $3.25. Porcupine also has other specials, such as happy hour. There are daily and nightly specials every day of the week. The chefs do an awesome job of getting creative, said Terwilliger. Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. is happy hour, in which appetizers are half off. Some appetizers are three to five bucks-is- h ar and beers. Its the way to go. Another indoor hangout within walking distance of Westminster College is Fats Grill 6c Pool located at 2182 South Highland Drive. Most of the storefronts located on this block of Highland Drive are dying be- items on our menu, said Aguilar. Its ingredients include ham, barbecue sauce and Swiss cheese. Aguilar also mentions the nachos and Sicilian panini as being some other menu favorites. Fats Grill 6c Pool is open 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday. On Friday it is open until 1 p.m. On Saturday it opens at noon and closes at 1 a.m. Customers over 21 can only enter after 6 p.m. every day it hind spray painted planks of plywood, but Fats Grill 6c Pool is still vibrant. Fats is a Interested in writing? two-doll- first date kind of place, said Aguilar. Its also my social experiment, she jokingly said. Billiards players make up most of Fats crowd.
