Since education is one of the worthier recipients of federal largess, its good to see our tax dollars at work. Eight confessed to receiving scholarships or awards; a Benedict Scholarship, three Ross Beasons, an Eccles, and a few others. They might not have money, but they do have brains. As far as living arrangements are concerned, eight live with roommates, six live alone, three with parents, two with spouses; and one person claims to be dead. Im sorry I missed his funeral. Twelve respondents live either on campus or within a mile from school; four live between one and three miles, two within three to five, and two live over ten miles from school. My dead friend claims to live in Die Twilight Zone. All 111 say about that is that if he does, I do too. When asked about leisure time, most denied having any. For those who do find time to relax, partying seems to be most popular, followed by studying (leisure?). Two said they spent leisure time sleeping. My friend from The Twilight Zone said he spends his time filling out silly surveys. Like I said a couple of dozen paragraphs ago, this survey should not be construed by anyone to be scientific. It is not Parsons T aste Victory By winning the Great Salt Lake Classic International the West- minster soccer team earned the distinction as the best major college team in Utah. In the tournament, which Westminster hosted on Oct. the Parsons beat Weber State and tied Brigham Young University. On Oct. 7 Westminster netted their first shutout of the season with a 0 win over Weber State. Freshman Ted Rickard scored stunned goals; on f John Dahmen the crowd and the Wildcats. AcHamid Sarshar, the Wildcording to the Parsons cats were attempting a penalty kick which hit the cross bar and richocheted downfield. Sarshar then took the ball the length of the field and fed Rickard, who scored. Mike Woodford and Steven Egbert had one goal apiece. The game against B YU was a real nail biter that ended after two overtimes in a 4 tie. At the end of regulation play, the score was knotted at three. After the first overtime, the score remained unchanged. In the second overtime, the Parsons drew first blood and appeared to have victory in their grasp. But with 23 seconds left in the game, the Cougars were awarded a penalty kick. Brian Bacon of BYU slipped the ball past the outstretched hands of Westminster goalie, Mike Peacock. I knew that Bacon would kick the ball to the right, said a dejected Peacock. I had a piece of it, but it wasnt enough. Scoring single goals for Westminster were Allen Stenquist and Mike Woodford. Steven Egbert had two. Egbert is the teams leading scorer with ten. Westminster coach Ben Rodriguez said, We are very pleased with Peacocks performance this season, especially in the tournament Half way through the season, the Parsons overall record stands at and they are 1 in NAIA Region 7 games. If Westminster can sweep three crucial games in Colorado on Oct. 20, 21 and 22 against the Colorado School of Mines, Rockmont College and Denver University respectively, they will earn a birth in the NAIA Area Tournament at Denver. This team has improved since the beginning of the season, because we are playing as a team, Rodriguez said. We have our work cut out for us. We have had the sweet taste of victory, said Peacock. The team has served notice that they are hungry for more. . 7-- 8, 4-- scientific. 4-- ten-minu- te 1; 0-- Photo of the Week By Joel Hastings 3 BYU. If not, youll see why its called an unscientific survey. A survey might not be as accurate as a poll, but at least it gives you something to argue about. My editor is probably going to conduct a survey of her own on whether or not to kill me over this article. So if she asks your opinion, you certainly have my permission to give it to her. Just remember her survey will probably not be scientific. David K. Neidert Editors Note No survey will be necessary. I cant kill him; hes too clever. The Forum needs some clever.
