Oakland, Cal. The wrecking at midnight by means of dynamite of three vacant houses In this city recently built by James L. Gallagher, former supervisor of San Francisco, the principal witness for the graft prosecution, following the partial destruction in a similar manner of his residence here on April 23, has aroused the authorities, who are determined, if possible, to discover the guilty person or persons. There are conflicting stories as to the motive of the criminal. One is that some one implicated in the graft exposure in San Francisco is seeking revenge against the man who has given the most direct evidence for the prosecution. Others entertain the idea that the dynamiter is a personal enemy of the former supervisor. Fishing Schooner Sunk and Seventeen of the Crew Drowned. Yarmouth, N. S. The following bits of wisdom were gleaned from a conversation with a man who, starting out In New York city with a capital of only $200, built up a flourishing business for himself in two years. They are respectfully dedicated to the unsuccessful: The busier a man is, the more h finds lime to do. "A penny saved is a penny made, if it isnt a dollar's worth of time and cuergy lost. In your business never accept the advice of tiny man who has not been successful In his own. When things go wrong I nevei hlame my circumstances or my sur roundings; I blame myself. To be successful? Never doubt your success. To acknowledge the possibility of failure means to fail.
