This was one of the many jokes told by clowns Dennis Rasmussen, Ken Harper and Bret Reeder, at the West Corinne annual Labor Day rodeo. The clowns and announcer Robert Smoot added to the intimacy of a close knit community rodeo. Over 31 local businesses and farms contributed stock, money and prizes. And families filled the bleachers, making it a successful affair. audience, the children had a puppy scramble. The puppies ran to two sides of the field and who should catch the dogs? Jill Carter on one side and brother Clay Carter on the other. The team of Kay Penn and Lisa Reeder was the first to take the ribbon off the calfs tail. While team Natalie Woodward and Ann Higley were the first to put the on their calf. The team of Steve Harper and Bret Reeder calf roped in 19.2 seconds. And another team, father and daughter, pleased the crowd, when little Dusty Davis helped her dad Tom Davis calf rope. The fastest wild cow milkers were Steve, Ken and Greg Harper. But Ezra Harper got the first milk. And Lewis Harper didnt bite the dust as Ezra Harper dragged him into first place in the hide race. A couple of miles away, the Smoot track was busy with the Corinne Explorer motor cycle races. Larry Whitaker, director of the boys, said they had 60 entries. Here is how the boys placed in the various events : Corinne had all the excitement of a professional rodeo. As with any big time rodeo, the bull riding was the highlight, with bucking bulls from the herds of Neil Harper and sons and Miles Ferry and sons. Corinne cowboys scored high: Bret Reeder, 67; Steve Harper, 61; and Ken Harper, 58. The cowboys were Steve Harper and Bret Reeder. They walked away with the championships and the jackpot. Then they went to the Hooper Rodeo in the evening and placed in the roping and bareback riding. Race Results motorcross, Darren Marble was first; Ollie Pearce was second and Matt Smoot, third. Ifi the 175cc moto-crosMark Lichfield was first; Darren Marble, second; and Ralph Trimble, third. In the 250cc moto Jeff Hardy was first; K.C. Nelson, second; and Mark Butler, third. In the open motocross, Bruce Hubbard was first, Mark Butler, second and Chuck Monson, third. Darryl Marble came first in the 100 cc Craig Smoot, second; and Matt Smoot third. Jim Norman came in first, Ralph Trimble, second; and Darren Marble, third, in the Jeff Hardy 175 cc took first, K.C. Nelson, second and Gordon Craner took third in In the the 250 cc Jeff Hardy open came in first and Bruce Hubbard, second. For the first drag races, the following placed. In the 100 cc number one was Garry Norman, second was Ken Norman, and third, Ollie Pgarce. In the 175 cc, Ralph Trimble was number one, Paul Danielson, second and Jim Norman next. In the 250 cc K. C. Nelson was first, Jeff Hardy, second, and Gordon Craner, third. The open was won by Gordon Craner with Bruce Hubbard, second, and Mark Lichfield, third. The over all champion of the motor cycle races was Jeff Hardy. Bruce Hubbard placed second, K.C. Nelson was third In the Special Thanks Special thanks goes to the Brigham City Fire Department who was standing by with an ambulance. Even though the animals did some fancy stepping, no one was hurt. One of the closest calls was when Dennis Rasmussen got hung up in his bull rigging. But rodeo clown Ken Harper was right there to help him. The results of the other events are as follows: In the saddle bronc riding; Bret Reeder came first with 46 points followed by Dennis Rasmussen and Steve Harper. The calf riding for six and under was won by a girl, Francey Harper. Kristy Fillmore was third and Jason second. Steve Harper won the calf roping in 15.6 seconds. Dick Smoot was second and Tom Davis third. Russell Mills off his steer, in the steer riding seven through nine, to take first place. Kyle Whitaker and Brandon Shinkle also displayed their ability to hang op.1 Eva Jean Harper finished the barrel race in 19.7 seconds. Julie Rasmussen followed in second place. Devon Desmond edged K.C. Stevenson and Clay Carter out of the first place when she refused to be thrown, in the ten through 12, steer riding. Richard and Vivian Bosley and their two sons Annerin and Lawrence left Sunday to go Poultry Building The poultry building was an interesting addition in open class at the Box Elder county fair in Tremonton this year. In it, Justin Anderson took first place in the rabbits, with his red buck from New Zealand. He also won several blue ribbons on his chickens. And the Christopher boys gained blue ribbons on their chickens and pigeons. In competition there, Boyd Reeder had a grand champion black fowl in the FFA division. Justin had a reserve champion in the bantam class and the Christophers had another re- -' serve champion. In the rabbits, Justin won grand champion on his California buck in the and Marvin Bunderson had the grand champion in the open class. The Christophers had grand champion in the homing pigeons.
