New Members Of The Caterpillar Club And Still Healthy B. E. County 10 Higher Than48 Collection of Box Elder county taxes to date are running about 10 per cent ahead of collections last year, according to Boyd Sheffield, county treasurer. "Although the collections are ahead of last year they represent a small percentage of the total amount to be collected. It ap pears that we will have our rush the last few days before the deadline, Sheffield said. Between 25 and 30 percent of the taxes that go delinquent do os because people do no receive their tax notices. One of the main reasons that people do not receive their tax notices is because property is assessed to the person in whose name it is recorded on January 1. If people who have purchased property after January 1, of this year have not received a tax no tice would either write or call in person at the County Treasurers office and give a description of the property they have purchas ed, a tax notice will be made up for their land. By doing this and paying the taxes before the delinquent date, they will save themselves the penalties and interest that is added to the regular tax if it goes delinquent Another reason for people not receiving their tax notices that when people move to a new address they fail to notify the treasurers office of their change of address. Therefore, several notices are returned to the treasurer's office every year marked by the postoffice Moved Left No Address. Deadline for the payment of taxes is November 30, at 12 oclock noon. After this date, penalties and costs have to be added to the original amount. The last three days before payment deadline, no delinqent taxes will be accepted at the treasurers office.
